Brown and Darling accused of panicking

KENNETH Clarke, the Tories' new shadow business secretary, yesterday accused Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling of "panicking" over the recession.
Mr Clarke said the Prime Minister and Chancellor were rushing out announcements designed to shore up the economy and the banking system "without any proper thought".

He accused the PM of treating voters like fools, and said: "Gordon Brown has made the mistake of having his junior ministers tour the TV studios, trotting out a series of damaging clichés.

"The public are not fools, and they see these soundbites for what they really are: a smokescreen."

The comments came as City minister Lord Myners launched an outspoken attack on the banks for "mismanagement" contributing to the downturn which has tipped the UK into its worst recession since the 1980s.

All they're really concerned with is how much the can milk the taxpayers before they get kicked out.

Between the wars the German economy did not start to stabalise until they went back to a partial gold standard.
Presumably as a student of History Gorgo knew this when he sold off all our gold reserves effectively ensuring the present situation.
Now why would he do that?

Ach you are doomed anyway. This is a natural world wide event. After it has run it's course the solutions will be more obvious. You could rely on the present political parties, Nigerian witchdoctors or economists who always get it right six months after the event. Who was it said "income twenty shillings a year, expenditure nineteen shillings and sixpence, result happiness. Expenditure twenty shillings and sixpence, result misery." Not at all accurate, but you get the drift.

They are not panicking as much as the rest of us .Their salaries,pensions.fiddling expenses are assured for awhile yetdue to their excellent forsight in awarding themselves this protection before we were aware what was going on
