BOXER Paddy Barnes and sailor Stephen Milne are among eight Ulster athletes included in the Ireland team for the Beijing Olympics next month.
Rower Richard Archibald, swimmers Andrew Bree and Melanie Nocher and triathlete Emma Davis have also been named in the Northern Irish contingent, while the squad also includes Chloe Magee (Badminton) and Philip Deignan (cycling) – both from Donegal.
Young swimmers Nocher and Cooney were selected for the Games in preparation for the next Olympics. Davis will become the first Irish triathlete to compete in the Olympics, while Robert Heffernan is tipped as an outside bet in the 20K walk after a sixth-place finish in the world championships last year.
