OMEGA Diagnostics, the medical devices group headquartered in Alva, is set to launch a product that measures the accuracy of laboratory testing.
Aim-listed Omega, which generates most of its current revenue selling tests for infectious diseases and food intolerance around the world, said the Pathozyme ElisaSure could be used to measure equipment "used in virtually every clinical laboratory wo
rldwide".
The devices monitor the accuracy of a range of equipment, such as pipetting devices which transfer liquids being tested on to dishes. Consistent measurements are essential to maintain testing standards.
Omega began selling the technology in South Africa after one of its customer's suppliers of monitoring equipment pulled out of the market. Following this success, Omega plans to roll the product out across its 100-country distribution network.
Chief executive Andrew Shepherd said the equipment would strengthen the company's position in supplying products to the clinical diagnostics market.
He added: "In an environment of increasing quality monitoring and national and international quality accreditation schemes, we believe that Pathozyme ElisaSure is a product that can benefit every laboratory in the world that carries out this type of test."
