THE increasingly bitter war of words between American billionaire Donald Trump and one of the most outspoken critics of his £1 billion Scottish golf development reached new heights yesterday.
Debra Storr, the rebel Liberal Democrat councillor who had accused the Trump Organisation of breaching access rules at the tycoon's Menie Estate, near Aberdeen, revealed that she has now been reported to the Standards Commission by the billionaire's
representatives.

And she said angrily: "I think he's trying to put pressure on me to stop speaking my mind on matters of legitimate public interest. He simply doesn't want people there.

"First of all one of his goons unlawfully detains me, then he writes me an incredibly abusive letter, and now he refers me to the Standards Commission for something that the Standards Commission are going to dismiss out of hand.

"He is just trying to intimidate and bully me. And I am not easily bullied."

Ms Storr, who was one of the Liberal Democrat councillors who quit Aberdeenshire Council's ruling administration in the fall-out over the controversial approval for the Menie Estate development, renewed her attack on the Trump Organisation last month when she claimed she had been harassed by Trump security staff after she began taking photographs of locked access gates on the sprawling estate near Balmedie.

She said she had been detained by the estate's security staff until police arrived to question her about the photographs and accused the Trump employees of intimidation and "thuggish behaviour".

In turn, Mr Trump sent an angry personal letter to Ms Storr in which he claimed she was trying to "harass and discredit" his plans for the Menie Estate.

The tycoon said: "It has become clear to everyone your bitter and negative campaign against this project is purely motivated by self-interest and your irrational need to promote an extremely unpopular personal agenda."

Yesterday it was revealed that the Trump Organisation had gone on the offensive again and lodged a formal complaint against Ms Storr to the watchdog which deals with allegations of misconduct against councillors.

George Sorial, the Trump Organisation executive in charge of the Menie Estate development, explained the reasons for referring Ms Storr to the commission.

He said: "We have no objection to her voicing her opinions. We disagree with them, as does 99 per cent of Aberdeenshire, but we have never done anything to try to silence her.

"However, when she is breaking the law, as she clearly was, we are going to do what any other citizen would do.

Our complaint is that she broke the law – she is a trespasser – and then she publicly maligned us and falsely accused us of doing something wrong where no-one has charged us with anything."

He added: "She is a distraction. She is a nuisance – like a fly – and we merely swatted her out of the way."

A brave woman to take on the Mafia-style thuggery of Trump and his squad - an affair well warned by others and my self when news first broke he wanted to concrete over a chunk of the Aberdeenshire coast.

This woman clearly is a sub standard councillor who has forgotten what she was elected for, ie to represent the people in her ward.
The vast majority of the people of Aberdeen want this development whether it is Trump or anyone else who builds it.
She has simply spat her dummy because she lost.

The sad thing about this is that Debra represents no one in Aberdeenshire and is pursuing her own personal agenda.

She indeed, instigated this whole confrontation along with one of her Sustainable Aberdeenshire colleagues and her personal blogg is full of her heroic exploits whilst driving up and down the bumpy roads at Menie in her Government supplied yellow buggy.

Debra is wallowing in the publicity (as always) and is completely oblivious to the contempt that the locals and now the whole of Aberdeenshire Council hold her in.

It is unfortunate that Debra chooses to spend our money in such a wasteful manner and at a time of looming recession.

She isn't a trespasser as there is no law of trespass in Scotland (Gene pool is correct).

Trump needs to be taught an objective lesson as to what the law stands and where he stands within it.

This lassie needs en mass support. She has mine.

Debra was on Menie to cause trouble (nothing else)and may have been better spending her time pursuing the ignorant fools who have blocked access to the car parks and beach at Balmedie.

Oh no, wait a minute, it was Debra herself who instigated these barriers at Balmedie wasn't it?
A
pparently it's OK to block vehicular access to the car parks at Balmedie but she wants to drive buses through private land at Menie.

It looks like all other events in Aberdeenshire are on hold whilst Debra continues her personal vendetta against a major investor in people.

Well, whatever the rights and wrongs of the case, for Trump's spokesman to say

"She is a distraction. She is a nuisance – like a fly – and we merely swatted her out of the way."

is desperately inappropriate. I had a wee suspicion on reading those words that maybe Trump was playing a clever game, and had them said so he could jump in and play the gentleman - say 'sorry' and win people over.

But I'm not going to hold my breath. It's clear that the words express what Trump himself feels. It's exactly the sort of thing a colonial officer would say in somewhere like Nyasaland c. 1930.

Trump's representatives should really check their facts, as there is no law of tresspass in Scotland sh could not have broken it.

On 4 July 1942 the Secretary of State for Scotland (Tom Johnston)
wrote to the Minister of Labour (Ernest Bevin):

'You wrote to me on 16 June about access for holiday makers to open lands in Scotland. In Scotland the law is abundantly simple. There is no such offence as 'trespass' which is a term borrowed from English jurisprudence. Any member of the public is accordingly at liberty to walk over any land in Scotland provided he does so without damage to crops or fences and does not commit a breach of the various Poaching Acts. This applies to the whole country with the exception of private gardens or grounds which form the curtilage of a dwelling house or other private residence. The only remedy open to a proprietor who finds himself aggrieved by the presence of any members of the public is to raise an action for interdict. This must be directed against the individual members of the public concerned and is so expensive a process that it is seldom resorted to unless the action of the individual or individuals is persistent and of such long continuance as gives annoyance to the owner of the land in question. The Access to Mountains Act of 1939 did not extend to Scotland for the simple reason that it was not required. In these circumstances, I think it would suffice if I were to make an appeal through the Press to owners and holidaymakers alike reminding them that though there is no law of trespass in Scotland, the Government hope that landowners will facilitate access to moorlands for workers from factory, mine or shipyard during their short holidays and that workers on holiday will be considerate towards other interests and be careful to avoid disturbance of stock on hills and damage of any kind.'

For those of you debating the nature of our trespass laws, here is the current chapter and verse:

http://www.outdooraccess-scotland.com/upload/Full%20Access%20Code.pdf

Here also is a summary of the law relating to photography outdoors:

http://www.sirimo.co.uk/ukpr.php/2004/11/19/uk_photographers_rights_guide

So, it is quite clear that Storr was acting fully legally. Trump would have to use some other legal route to deal with any feelings of being hard done by as the result of Storr's actions. His current approach is just laughable.

However, this complaint and the utterly ignorant and misdirecting statements from both Hobday ("illegal" photography") and Sorial ("trespassing" in Trump's back garden), only serve to demonstrate the sort of bullying/delaying tactics they prefer to employ.

Maybe TGLS should actually learn to work within the law of its host country and deal with their own illegal behaviour and incompetent staff instead?

The SNP on the other is wildly, ecstatically, erotically, orgasmically impressed by Trump (Jean Pull)

If only you could see beyond your nose, or merely have a grasp of basic fcts.

It was Union Jack McConnell who smoozed Trump when in the USA, then took him around chunks of Aberdeenshire in a helicopter to look at potential sites for investment.

The SNP government, which ousted the corrupt Labour one, was saddled with McConnell's legacy and Trump's belligerent acquisitiveness.

After a long internal commission taking evidence from all sides an experts the Scottish Government approved Trump's plan but with conditions.

And, after all prediction, and the bank collapse, Trump is left with nothing but boredom, the odd hour filled chasing a councillor off his domain - an area of land that used to be called Scotland.

But them, you knew all that.

To you, only fabrication is worth posting.

Unlike "Overton" I post in my own name.

Thanks for the many here and elsewhere who recognise that I was simply investigating a complaint made to me by my constituents. I would be remiss if I did not.

The fact that I was prevented from leaving the Mill of Menie track after I had been talking to two of my constituents is in the hands of the police. Yes, I took photos as evidence of the padlocked gates and anyone can see these at www.menieestate.notlong.com. I explained that I had been following up constituent complaints and had been blocked from leaving by the silver car - the driver of which refused to identify himself. A potentially alarming situation if I had been alone in my car and if two constituents had not arrived, concerned at my safety. A complaint regarding unlawful detention in in the hands of the police.

And Overton - my car is mine. And bollards at Balmedie beach are not there are my instigation - I'm no longer the councillor for Balmedie, even if most residents believe so and still contact me.

Swinney has serious questions to answer regarding the failure to call in the Caltongate plans also.

Those were passed witout any financial justification for the demolition of a listed building. Only after the plans were passed did Historic scotland pay a commercial outfit thirteen thousand pounds of taxpayer's money for one. It's so biased and wrong it's laughable, and would not have stood up to scrutiny at an inquiry. No doubt it made Swinney happy though, as then he could simply ignore all the public outcry.

It seems that national planning policies can be overturned when a developer wants it.

"However, when she is breaking the law, as she clearly was, we are going to do what any other citizen would do."

I didn't know that taking a photograph of a padlocked gate was a crime. It's different than climbing over it which may, often, be legal, but sometimes not.

"We disagree with them, as does 99 per cent of Aberdeenshire"

The folk of Aberdeenshire speak for themselves, and I reckon more will be taking the Trumps' allegations and attitude with a pinch or salt.

"She is a distraction. She is a nuisance – like a fly – and we merely swatted her out of the way."

It doesn't say it all but is says alot. Are the local Police merely (unpaid) security guards for them?

Local Councils used to build golf courses and do them well; does flashing, so they claim, £B pounds and arriving in your private jet give special preference?

Hopefully this affair will warn the current majority in Aberdeenshire that may still favour the Menie development that Trump will deal ruthlessly with whoever may impede or potentially reduce its profitability.

I notice that the local press have not conducted any further opinion polls since those in autumn 2007 showed 70-80% supporting Trump, not the 99% that Donald claims. So surely the papers have realised that support has ebbed.

With less cross-continent travel for golf likely in the next decades, there is scope for just one new Championship course up here, and any sensible Scot should be backing Paul Lawrie, not Donald Trump.

And I find that even though Paul`s course at Blairs is much further advanced, there has been no attempt there to block access.

But then Paul is a caring Aberdonian who everyone should be supporting, not undermining by giving DT freedom to treat us as playthings.
