Police were today investigating the sudden death of a baby girl.
The nine-month-old died yesterday evening in the Perth area.

Tayside Police said inquiries were at an early stage and the family was receiving support.

A spokesman said: "Tayside Police are currently making inquiries into the sudden death of a nine-month-old female child in the Perth area which occurred on the evening of Wednesday November 19.

"This sensitive investigation is at an early stage and inquiries will continue to establish the cause of death whilst providing support along with partner agencies to the parents and close family."

Paramedics were called to a flat in Perth's New House Road at about 7.30pm after the baby's 20-year-old mother reported her unwell.
The child was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary where she died less than two hours later.

Police said the house has been sealed off as a precautionary measure and "to allow a thorough examination to take place".
A post mortem test is expected to take place later today.
