WOMEN who smoke during pregnancy can blame their genes, according to research.
Scientists have found a common mutation that makes it difficult for mothers-to-be to give up smoking, even though it can lead to problems for the child.

In a survey of 2,474 women who smoked regularly immediately before they became pregnant, those with a variant in a subunit of a gene known as a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, which has also been linked to increased cigarette consumption, were about a third less likely than others to give up.

I would be very sceptical about blaming smoking through pregnancy, on there "genes", more the like the pregnant woman just enjoys her cigarette's, and will not give them up.

Other paper said MAY.
Why can't research be more positive?

I wonder what gene give people the "gift" of being able to blame smoking for every single ill in the world?

Maybe the "stupid bigot" gene perhaps?

please mr moderator, disable commenting on any article with the keywords "smoking; cigarettes; tobacco;".

it must be done to prevent further degeneration into circular and pointless discussions that are seriously injurious to mental health.
