Lovely tribute to a lovely, kind man. The service will be a celebration and reflection tinged with happiness and sadness for a life that was lost far too soon :( We'll miss you John xxx

John Macsween was an inspiration to many many people and he, in many ways, was the proud custodian of everything that is good in Scotland. He was undoubtedly strong, forward thinking, funny, charming and very respectful of all that was around him. His wide ranging and sizable contribution to Scotland is very had to quantify, but his death is, without question, a true loss to the nation. His remaining gift however, are his wonderful family and children. Together they will ensure that the Scottish National dish, and all that it stands for, are upheld and indeed advanced around the world.

John was such a rare personality that will be so sorely missed by family, friends and those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was kind and generous, compassionate and charismatic. He inspired in many, many ways and touched so many hearts. My sincerest consolences to his wonderful family.

It was with great sadness that I read of John's death. Although I knew he had been ill for some time, it still came as a tremendous shock to learn that he had died. I sang in the same choir as he for some years. He was a lovely man who was warm-hearted and had a great sense of humour. I know he will be greatly missed by all the friends he made over the years and I would like to express my sympathy to his wife and children in their loss of a fine man.
