Something wrong with BECTU's tactics here. Surely if people boycott the film the extras won't get paid? I certailnly won't be buying a ticket now. Is that what BECTU wants?
Don't these companies have to post a wage guarantee bond before being allowed to film?
Bectu are trying to slam the gate shut after the horse has bolted. When the film went into administration they stuck their head in the sand and concentrated on getting the cinema workers a larger popcorn allowance or some other easy target.
This supposed protest is a whitewash to let them say that they were active in helping us when actually they are guilty of doing nothing.
I do not understand how they can orginise a protest and not contact any of us who are members and worked on the project.
Equity members were payed because their union means something. Bectu is a Paper Tiger.
BECTU have as usual jumped the gun before getting all the facts (hardly suprising as they haven't bothered to contact any of the crew who worked on the film). A boycott of the film would be counterproductive and only succeed in guaranteeing that no one will get paid. If they really wanted to help their members, rather than jump on a picket band'waggon, they should do all they can to support the films' release.
