What are the ethical and privacy considerations?
i'm a leading scot... i'm a roofer... do you want mine ?
Anybody could see this coming; most of us write most of our stuff on-line now, anyway. Why not just periodically up-copy what's on our hard-drives & let future lit. scholars sort it all out, as they always inevitably do? Benefit: More work for more e-researchers; certainly eScotland needs the e-jobs. What does Kirkcaldy's Dr. Tom Hubbard (Ph. D, Aberdeen) think of this?
I agree with Kathy about the ethical and privacy considerations, and would further add concerns regarding intellectual property rights - will copyright clearance be applied for?
Anyway, there is already a much larger archive available called archive.org, which has been running for ten years and would allow future researchers to see Scottish works in a world context, rather than self-standing.
