If the muslim community complained, Halloween would soon be banned by Tony and his cronies!

Ban Easter too as all that chocolate just makes kids fat.

Oh, Christmas also as that usually brings out the worst in people, greed, envy and gluttony.

These celebrations, along with All Hallows Eve, all pre-date Christianity so perhaps an entirely new colander of events is required?

The bishop has no place to comment, surely the entire christian faith was founded on and is perpetuated by their creating "a climate of fear": thou shalt do as we say or unspeakable pain and suffering will be visited upon you for all eternity.

No fear = No blind faith, which means that the good bishop is out of a job!

I agree with everything said so far!

Halloween has changed over the years from kids dressing up as "tramps" and "ghosts" in whatever their parents could scare -up(pun intended) and going house to house with a tumshee lantern. It is now run by the dark side of commercialism. Because Christians object , nothing is done. If it was an insult to Islam...WOW! Would something be done and very quickly!

if the Bishop wants to ban halloween then I want all religious/spiritual/superstitious nonsense banned at the same time. the tooth fairys, santa and his elves, priests, ministers etc should be filling in their forms for Job Seekers Allowance as we speak.

I fancy dressing up as a mad mullah! Then people would take me seriously!

Kids have been oot at halloween for eons but what I object to is 'trick or treatin', distinctly American and not how we do it here. I am sure 'trick or treat' means 'give me something or I will pan yer windaes in'. Whereas when I was a kid you had to entertain for your pennies or get 'dookin' for apples, everyone had to do a turn, sing, tell a joke or recite a poem...far more civilised!

Personally I will be celebrating Samhain, or halloween as its known now. For some of us 'damned ones' it is a time to celebrate our dead and is the beginning of the new year, quietly and respectfully, without offending anyone or threatening to kill them because they have offended us.

if you/your kids put on halloween costumes, don't go knocking on a muslim's house. muslims have nothing to do with halloweens.
jimmy & wilma, don't start the fire. pope just recently tried to speak, observe the outcome.

If the bishop thinks Halloween is "bad" in the UK, I advise him NOT to visit the US on 30 October (Mischief night) and of course Halloween. With all the really bad things he could help stop or at least lessen, he chooses Halloween to carp about. BOOOOOOOOOO!

Samhain.. ahh.. Halloween has been so commercialized here it is rediculous. I wish the christians would stay out of it. It is bad enough that they adopted so many of our ways. Mainly because they couldn't fight it so they blended it in. I love this time of year, anyone who doesn't needs to leave the rest of us alone.
