The bakers obviously "knead the dough".

Can't believe I was the first person to write that in!!!

I'm usually more "crusty" on this column.

Ah well ..... "roll" on the rest ....

You'll be "bread in the water" with comments like that Messalina!

This is nonsense and just shows how desperate the big fellas are to make a buck.
I worked in Cereal procurement and the news of drought and low stocks is predictable. The way to guard against it is to buy wheat futures to keep your prices low.ADM milling have a professional buyer who does this and will have locked out his forward book at well below current values. So its a stitch up........of that I have no doubt.

the Aussie and Ukraine position was known at least 9 months ago so that news was already known and acted upon by major buyers.

I have been reliably informed that Scotland has exported several thousands of tonnes of milling wheat to Australia. We are now raising the prices and claiming shortages.

2Kg Strong white bread flour around 90p
with minimal other ingredients, yeast, sugar, salt, oli and water. about 3 to 4 loaves per bag of flour, no more than 35 p per loaf. Or invest in a breadmaker.
what's the problem.

Crumbs,

Use your loaf and make your own...

Or - every supermarket has bargain/everyday bread circa 35p for a full loaf. Even a freshly baked in store tiger loaf is only 65 or 70p. Who are these wasters who pay 94p for a loaf? MMTS (More money than sense).

Increasing the price by £21.25p a tonne means that a kilo is 2p dearer. Work it out, the price rise forecast is a rip off.

Bake your own. Anyone know a good site for baking bread?

I don't know why this report even exists.

I have seen loaves of bread costing well over a pound in supermarkets and shops for ages!

What it MAY mean is the price of a really cheap supermarket loaf(around £0.40) will go up to a pound - who knows?!

8) I know of no site capable of doing this. What you need is a breadmaker, most come with excellent recipies.
