Anyone who believes this bilge needs their head examined. SDI, Scottish Enterprise and Lorna Jack have been an unmitigated disaster for Scottish business in the USA.
Savvy American customers do not 'buy' Scotland, they buy what Scotland has to offer - if it's appropriate. Attending a few exhibitions and waving the Scottish flag is a futile excercise.
After 20 years, SE has eventually decided, 'what we need is a more business led approach'. Truly pathetic - sack the lot of them!

Bilge ? No1 is well off the mark and just another loser!

All the hard work that has gone into laying the foundation of the Scoto-American Trade Entrpreneurship is not something to be disdained but to be welcomed by all parties on each side of the Atlantic . Scotland is more than Tartan-tat and Alex Salmond our First Minister is well aware of that fact. No need to teach ducks to suck eggs No1.
We Scottish Nationalist supporters have been waiting for this golden opportunity to sell Scotland and Scottish enterprise directl for a very long time. Instead of going through British Trade Consuls it much more practical and effective than going direct to the American business leaders and tconsequently the American consumers.

More power to your elbow and keep up the pressure Lorna and Alex and their team!

When exactly did we become leaders in renewable energy?

We have one company building wave energy systems that wouldn't have got anywhere if it hadn't been for overseas VCs.... The other one failed to raise any money here but was bought out by Siemens of Germany.

There are a couple of companies in the tidal sector scrabbling around courtesy of some Govt grants and we have two fuel cell companies... One employs two people and the other one about ten.

This doesn't make us leaders this makes us also rans let down once again by the visionless, short termist bunch of creeps that make up our financial services sector.
