MOBY: WAIT FOR ME
***
LITTLE IDIOT
FOR best results, listen to Moby's new album from start to finish on headphones – a crazy old-fashioned notion for sure, but as it was recorded in stereo on analogue equipment and conceived to be experienced as a whole, he'd thank you for making the effort. Going DIY suits him – he keeps his own sub-Bowie vocal contributions to a minimum and gets some husky or serene female friends in to do the job instead and, though he does fall back on his usual catatonic chillout vibe on single Pale Horses and testifying preacher samples on Study War, there is a soothing soundtrack quality to much of the album which makes it his most rewarding work in some time.
