As I remember it, the Jamie Bulger killers were deemed to be guilty of an adult crime at 11. The truth is that we treat children as adults when it suits us we treat them as children when we don't like their adult behaviour.

There will come a time when this generation mixed up "kidults" will have to decide whether our generation is retired or working.

And guess what? We'll all be of working age when it suits the younger generation, and we'll be "to old" when it comes to health care, housing, unemployment benefit.

We shall reap what we sow!

As always the politicians treat us as fools, drink and drugs are a problems for a section of the population, but like most action by the executive they go for the headline and the cheapest solution to tackle the symptoms knowing that the real issue of providing hope and a future to people is beyond their feeble abilities. They should be asking themselves why people abuse these substances, is it to mask the reality of their lives, no hope no prospects? Sure take away their prop, grind them in that little bit more and like the Scandinavians watch the death rate rise.
