VERSE OR WORSE A COLLECTION of works by the man dubbed "the world's worst poet" sold for more than expected at auction yesterday.
William McGonagall was a Dundee weaver whose verse was ridiculed as banal and unrhythmic. A collection of 35 of his poems, sold by a private collector, fetched £6,600 at Lyon & Turnbull in Edinburgh.
