BRITNEY Spears, the US pop singer, is being investigated for possible child abuse, by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, it was reported last night.
An unscheduled hearing was held yesterday at LA County superior court, with Dennis Wasser, Spears' lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, the attorney for her estranged husband Kevin Federline, and a lawyer from Los Angeles County Counsel all present to investigate the treatment of her two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

A hearing has been arranged for 4 September to decide who will have custody of the boys.
