A GERMAN microchip developer specialising in the automotive and portable music sectors is to set up a new design centre in Edinburgh creating “at least” 20 jobs by the end of the year.
Dialog Semiconductor, which is headquartered near Stuttgart and currently employs about 250 people worldwide, has been awarded a £1.3 million research and development grant from Scottish Enterprise.

The money will go towards a £5.5m project to develop “cutting-edge” components that will be at the “forefront of global developments in audio technology”.

The new office, overlooking St Andrew Square, will become one of the group’s “global centres of excellence”.

Dialog chief executive Dr Jalal Bagherli said: “We are pleased to have selected Edinburgh for our new design facility. This will allow Dialog to enhance its technical knowledge base with access to further world class signal processing talent.”
