WOMEN worried about their risk of breast cancer should snack on walnuts instead of biscuits or crisps, an expert said last night.
Research by US scientists suggests eating walnuts can significantly reduce the chance of developing the disease.

Although the work was done on mice, scientists believe it is likely to be relevant to humans.

Walnuts contain omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and plant versions of oestrogen that may protect against breast cancer. Laboratory mice at high risk of breast cancer were fed either a normal diet or food containing the human equivalent of two ounces of walnuts per day.

Tests showed that walnut consumption significantly decreased the incidence of breast tumours in the animals.

What a stupid statement to make, really stupid,....

"WOMEN worried about their risk of breast cancer should snack on walnuts"

NO THEY SHOULD NOT!, Without first making sure they do not have a 'NUT-ALLERGY'

"Walnuts", If you do have a nut-allergy, are one of the worst "nuts" to come in contact with, your tongue can swell that much in 10minutes or less, you cannot breath,...
............CHECK FIRST PLEASE!

Hi Charles, I am sure that most people already know if they have a nut allergy, so there is no need to worry.

However, nut allergy is a relatively new phenomenon and recent research has shown that restricting exposure of children to nuts can actually be harmful. Nuts should be introduced in very small quantities after 6 months old, according to this research.

I think that allergy is often cited without being proven. For example, nuts and cereals can harbour irritating dust and bacteria when they are not stored correctly.

Good god man you have a problem....but why does that trouble you?..you can close your eyes when you eat them...the walnuts that is...I think they look more like wee brains..and they are supposed to be good for migraines...I read today that broccoli is the best veg for prostrate cancer...maybe the walnuts would be good for that too...they do say that the organ (etc) that the veg/fruit closely resembles is the one that it will aid.....
