Eurostar move attempts to attract Scots

EUROSTAR yesterday predicted an increase in Scottish passengers when its London terminus moves from Waterloo to St Pancras in a year's time.
The new terminus is five minutes' walk from King's Cross station, which is served by GNER trains from Scotland. London-Paris journeys will be cut by 20 minutes to 2hr 15min after the switch.

It all depends on the service we get from London St.Pancras to Scotland. How quick will that be and what price are we looking at for a Scotland-Paris return ticket?

Euro star was built purely to serve the south-east. Scotland was never considered and never will be other than paying money to Eurostar.

Like many government sponsored actions such as the Millenium Dome and the London Olympics Scotland is only wanted to finance them, there has been and never will be any thought of serving Scotland.

You don't get it - there will be no integrated tickets and no trains to Scotland from St. Pancras. The story is just trotting out a Eurostar press release which simply points out that St. Pancras is next door to King's Cross, where GNER trains arrive from Scotland. You get a normal GNER train, you change stations in London, you catch a Eurostar to Paris or Brussels. That's the theory. Whether anyone can afford a GNER ticket *and* a Eurostar ticket is another matter :-)

#4 Totally agree, this is just a load of tosh being served up by Eurostar. Why cant they just run a direct Eurostar train from Edinburgh non stop to Paris or wherever, answer is they can be bothered!
They spent all that money on CTRL, the end result of which is that Londoners can now use St Pancras (north of the River) intead of Waterloo (south of the River) Project funded by £ 1.9 BILLION most if not all a grant from the Tory Government in 1996
Priceless!
