A LEADING environmentalist has accused First Minister Alex Salmond of misrepresenting him over the Scottish Climate Change Bill.
Richard Dixon, the director of WWF Scotland, hit out after he was quoted during First Minister's questions yesterday when Mr Salmond used his remarks from December, which described the bill as "the most ambitious in the world".

The First Minister was responding to an attack from Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott, who quoted a press release issued yesterday by a group of environmentalists that described the bill's 2020 emission targets as "very disappointing".

Mr Dixon later told The Scotsman that he had drafted the press release and his views had been "misrepresented" by Mr Salmond.

He demanded that the SNP stick to its manifesto promise to introduce a meaningful target of more than 40 per cent of emission cuts by 2020. "This bill can still be saved," he said.

Salmond must resign now for misleading the Parliament.

Clearly his position is untenable.

We cannot have a man like Dixon heading up WWF Scotland. This is the guy who wants to criminalise people who own patio heaters and who don't have double glazing, but who is quite willing to fly all over the planet himself.

Dixon keeps on puffing himself up in importance as if anybody cares about these dumb targets when they possibly don't have a job, the economy's wrecked and people like him keep on hypocritically insisting on how we should live when doing the opposite themselves, a bit in fact like MPs, MEPs...

He's entitled to his opinion but so are we.

Mr Dixon and his like are a menace to society, and to the wellbeing of wildlife. Their basic premise about the impact of CO2 on climate is an outright lie, and from that all manner of ills follow. I dream of the day when even The Scotsman will run an expose on the greenies and their selfish destructiveness.

1 RUFUS, you are such a twonk, you really are. I don't think I have ever come across anyone with such humiliation addiction.

Again, I hardly see the First Minister shaking in his boots at Dixon's "demands".

PATHETIC.
