Anstruther in line for a major facelift

A MAJOR facelift is planned for the East Neuk fishing village of Anstruther, and Ryden, in partnership with Environ, has clinched the deal to carry out a feasibility study. Fife Council and the Anstruther Community Regeneration Project will use the study to prepare the business case for the re-development of the harbourmaster's office, toilet block and the Herring Ring site, owned by the council.
A tourist information and education facility could be incorporated into a development plus a new restaurant, toilets, showers and laundry as well as the relocation of the harbourmaster's office to an elevated position.

RYDEN, on behalf of NHS Loth
ian, has sold the 0.85 acre site at 22-38 Chalmers Street, Edinburgh, for £8.5 million to Unite which has obtained planning consent for 81 flats, providing 249 student beds, which will also be let to tourists in the summer.

THE 19,015sq ft former Remploy building in Hillington Industrial Estate has been sold for more than £650,000 to internet-based retailer Morale Home Furnishing who will use it as a storage and distribution base. King Sturge acted, with Colliers CRE for Morale.

A VACANT townhouse at 39 Palmerston Place, Edinburgh, has been sold by the Thistle Property Group to developer Golden Squares for £1.65m. The building could now be in line for office or residential use. James Barr acted for Thistle, with Knight Frank for the purchaser.

FIVE buildings have been pre-sold at the Livingston New Houstoun Business Park, a development by the Business Homes CALA partnership. The latest to go is a pavilion which went to construction company Clancy Docwra for more than £1.1m. Ryden and Colliers CRE are agents.

SIX new retailers have been signed up for the 215,000sq ft Mercat Shopping Centre in Kirkcaldy – JJB Sports (15,000sq ft,15-year lease at £115,000 a year), Subway (ten years, £41,150), juice bar operator Zumo (ten years, £15,000), Poundland (4,000sq ft, 15 years, £115,000), Carphone Warehouse (£40,300) and 3 Store (£59,750). Agents are Cushman & Wakefield and Atisreal.

IMPACT Signshas taken a second unit – 2,000sq ft, four years at £21,185 a year – at Deerdykes View, Westfield, Cumbernauld. Jones Lang LaSalle advised the landlord, RBCTC, as trustees for the Industrial Trust, c/o Valad Property Trust.
