A BID to further punish the councillor who blocked Donald Trump's controversial £1 billion golf resort plan in Aberdeenshire was withdrawn at the 11th hour last night.
The ruling Liberal Democrat group on Aberdeenshire Council held a lengthy meeting to discuss a proposal to kick Councillor Martin Ford out of the party.

Mr Ford had already been removed as chairman of the authority's main planning committee.

LibDem Councillor Alastair Ross read an agreed statement following the meeting. He said: "The motion was withdrawn and we move forward together."

Mr Ford said that he was "pleased with the outcome of the meeting".

Well, at least the Lib Dems in Aberdeenshire will be unified when they get kicked out at the next election.

They should give the man a written apology and put his name forward for an honour award. He has been dignified and open in his duty to his constituents, unlike some who have dipped their toe into the muddied waters of Aberdeenshire politics and planning issues.

His constituents hate him, along with 95% of the region electorate. Dumb trouble causer.

If the LibDems don't get rid of him they will pay at the next election. They are in big trouble already in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City.

Ford is not Chairman of the planning authority.

The Aberdeenshire Planning Dept. approved the Trump Development, and recommended approval at the meeting at Balmedie School, on 27th September 2007. When the local committed approved the Plan, 11 votes to 4.

Ford was chairman of the infrasture conmmittee and was voted off this post by Aberdeenshire Council, after he went against the policy of the LibDem party (his own 'party') and voted against the Development.

Now he claims it was illegal for the party to demote him. However what is surprising is that he is still a member of a party whose mandate he does not agree with. He should either resign from the party or be expelled. Either stand a a eco-facist or an independent. Rather than use a party to get elected and then operate under his own agenda. He used the LibDems to get elected because he knew if he stood as a green or an independent he would not have been elected. A real democrate, with high ideals of his own convictions. Not a liar who forces his opinions on others.

Next thing you know Ford will be sueing the LibDem and Aberdeenshire Council because they don't agree with him. Like to see how that pans out. Dumb idiot!

If there were more forward thinking and fair politicians such as Martin Ford, perhaps the country would be a better place. Unlike Alex Salmond and his cronies, Ford cannon be accused of Sleaze. He clearly looked at this application in a sensible manner and concluded, rightly, that it should not go ahead. He certainly did not bow to the expectations of many of his peers and used his vote as he saw fit.

Why is he not being praised for taking a stand against a businessman set on destroying out coast for profit? Can no one else see the worth of this man an age of dishonest and unprincipled politicians?

Ford should have kept his big mouth shut and his nose out of other folks business. He is a creep. Dishonest and unprincipled. Give him enough rope and he hung himself. How he saw fit. No as the electorate saw fit.
