THE Scottish Futures Forum was set up in 2005 as a think tank to bring some "blue-sky thinking" to difficult issues and provide advice and suggestions to MSPs.
Key members of the drugs and alcohol project board include:

Frank Pignatelli: The former chief executive of Learndirect Scotland chaired the forum and oversaw the drugs and alcohol project.

Tom Wood: The vice-chairman of the project board is a former deputy chief constable of Lothian and Borders Police and former chairman of the Scottish Alcohol and Drugs Action Team.

Professor Richard Sparks: An academic from Edinburgh University's School of Law and internationally recognised expert in criminology.

Other members include Fiona Moriarty, director of the British Retail Consortium; Louise Macdonald, deputy chief executive of the Young Scot charity; Barclay McBain, managing editor of the Herald; Gavin Hewitt, chief executive of the Scotch Whisky Association; Ian Gordon, chief executive of the Bethany Christian Trust, an Edinburgh-based charity for the homeless, and Victor Everhard from the Trimbos Institute, which deals with mental health problems.
