THE son-in-law of the Dundee United FC chairman Eddie Thompson has died in a motorcycle accident.
Ken Mitchell, 38, died after losing control of his Harley Davidson on a bend on the A90 at Dalmeny, west of Edinburgh.
His wife Justine is believed to have been immediately in front of him in their car and witnessed the accident.
The couple, who have a one-year-old son, Monty, were married in April 2004 at Dundas Castle, South Queensferry.
Mr Mitchell owned a recruitment agency; his widow is a lawyer in Edinburgh.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the accident at 8am on Sunday. It caused the closure of the road for several hours while an investigation was carried out.
Yesterday, the Dundee United director Derek Robertson, a close friend of the Thompson family, said everyone at the club was devastated by the news.
