DUNDEE UNITED were last night on the verge of securing a deal to bring Willo Flood back to Tannadice.
Manager Craig Levein has agreed a deal in principle with the highly-rated Irishman and is in the process of thrashing out the terms of a second loan deal which will allow the Cardiff City midfielder to return to Scotland.

Flood, who has anoth
er year of his deal to run at Cardiff City, was a huge success during a season-long loan last term and has indicated that he wants to move back to Tayside.

United are close to negotiating a deal with the Bluebirds which will see the 23-year-old back in Tangerine next season.

Levein revealed: "We're still working on a few things and Willo has told us he wants to come here. We've got an agreement with the player, which means nothing without Cardiff letting him join us, but it looks as though it's going to go through. It will be another loan deal because we can't afford to pay his full wages.

"So the player wants to join us and there is a willingness on Cardiff's part to let him come back here so right now we're talking about it. Hopefully it will be done in the next day or two."

Meanwhile, Dundee last night suffered a potentially serious injury blow when new signing Craig McKeown flew home from their Maltese training camp with a groin injury.

The former Clyde player has been plagued with hernia problems throughout his career and underwent a third operation in just over three years this summer.

The problem appears to have flared up again so he has been booked in for scans back in the UK to determine the level of damage.

Manager Alex Rae has ex-Dundee United defender Jim Lauchlan on trial and will also include a Dutch striker in Friday's match against Birkirkara.

#2 Amortisation.

If the fee they would expect to get is equivalent to United buying out his wage contract, and he wouldnt be getting a regular start for the Bluebirds, he is effectively being 'written off'.
This also allows United to spread the cost rather than
paying a 'Transfer Fee' plus wage.

There is probably a sell-on clause as well.
Thus a win-win-win for Cardiff, United and 'the Wisp'.

So how do you know United will not be paying his full wages?

If reports are correct, he has also agreed in principle to a 2 year pre-contract agreement which he will sign in Jan, thus seeing off the Old Firm predators.

Now for Roy O'Donovan....

craig levin said it would be up to cardiff as they would still be contributing to his wages as utd couldnt afford them..and it appears he has got another year loan with utd..good for them.
