THE former site of Telford College in Edinburgh has gone on sale, and is expected to raise more than £12.5 million.
Situated in the Crew Toll area of the city, the 7.83 acre site has been put on the market by DTZ and is said to have already attracted a high level of interest from developers – including a number from south of the Border looking to cash in on Scotla
nd's more stable housing market.

The development site is one of the biggest available in Edinburgh this year.

Planning permission has already been granted for the conversion and extension of the Grade B listed building that housed the former intermediate school and the construction of three residential blocks to provide a total of 327 flats.

John Brown, director of DTZ, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for a developer to purchase a prime Edinburgh site just 1.5 miles from the city centre.

"The housing market within Edinburgh has been more resilient than elsewhere and so we would expect a site of this nature to be of interest to large developers from outwith the Scottish market looking to gain exposure to a more stable market.

"To date this view has been justified with a number of English based companies expressing an interest in the site."
