GAVIN Kerr is the latest Scotland internationalist to be leaving Edinburgh with the prop having clinched a deal with Guinness Premiership side Sale.
The 32-year-old, who featured in the 2003 and 2007 World Cups, made his 50th Test appearance for Scotland as a replacement against Ireland in 2008. But the 18-stone forward has struggled recently with injury and also been out of favour in the capital under Andy Robinson since his move to Edinburgh from the defunct Borders in the summer of 2007.

Kerr was unavailable due to injury when Scotland suffered their prop crisis in the recent RBS Six Nations Championship, but would have been in the frame as he can cover both sides of the scrum and enjoyed a run in the Test side under now departed coach Frank Hadden.

Kerr started out with Berwick and played for Jed-Forest before moving south and playing for club side Caldy which won him a contract at Leeds Tykes. He made over 100 appearances for the Yorkshire club before returning to Scotland and joining the Border Reivers in 2006.

Other internationals departing the capital this summer include lock Matt Mustchin and full-back Hugo Southwell as Robinson makes room for more and younger native talents to come through.

Exodus??? Hardly.

Kerr is no-where near getting a game and neither is Shuggy. Mustchin is all but retiring. Three players out of a squad is not an exodus. If you want to write an article on an exodus then write one on Saracens or Gloucester.

Keep your negative sentiment for Geech's Lions selections please Mr Ferguson.

I agree with post 1, poor choice of words from David Ferguson. Exodus? 2008 yes, 2009 hardly. Cutting out the fat more like.
