I'M OVER Sarah Palin. The family 'scandal' was last week's news, the "pitbull in lipstick" comment is sounding tired, and my interest in how she gets her hair looking like that (hairpins? Elnett?
The power of prayer?) is waning by the day. But there's one thing about Palin that continues to get my attention, and that is the fact that her sheer presence on the Republican ticket is rapidly turning the most important free election of the 21st ce...

Well, that there is more to discuss in the US election that abortion is abundantly clear. Indeed, being 'pro-life' ought to extend past the abortion issue and more to health care where it is clear people's lives are being shortened but the inability to get care and right into the debate about the wars on an intangible thing, 'terror'.

It is obvious that the 'war on terror' has killed thousands of innocent lives in Iraq and Afghanistan and has, of course, killed more US military than 9/11 ever managed. Pro-life needs to tackle this issue and get these wars over soon before there are more deaths. Nothing is settled by these wars - talking is the only way to settle the issues.

Healthcare in the US is a disgrace in the inequality of treatment of people based solely on their money. The wealthy are always OK and the very poorest too but those in the middle are stuck. How could a Christian pro Life supporter not want to fix this issue unless the credentials are for show only of course.

I don't get a vote, of course, but Republicans seem to have been wrecking the US as above and economically and I only hope for Obama to get into power and start sorting things out in a way McCain never would.

No 1 - "Palin is white trash." Not very Christian is it Ms Boyle? Or does your faith allow for exceptions?

No 2 "ndeed, being 'pro-life' ought to extend past the abortion issue and more to health care where it is clear people's lives are being shortened but the inability to get care and right into the debate about the wars on an intangible thing, 'terror'."

A good point, but in the case of 'pro-life' issues surely the core instinct is to protect life? Doesn't abortion go against that instinct? I agree that all issues must be looked at, but nothing short a complete re-work of policy will put us in a position where we live without the obstacles and in the love Christianity demands of us. Instead we must chip away at each policy with equal zeal and pray like mad.

As for the article itself ... "leave their views on abortion at home" I'm afraid as a Catholic I cannot do that. I base my decision on an effective Government on their desire to protect their people. Abortion runs contrary to that.

I would prefer abortion was not illegal, but instead mothers and fathers are helped and supported from the moment they discover they are expecting. There is an alternative to abortion.
