Lords scrutiny for EU treaty
MEMBERS of the House of Lords are to carry out an in-depth inquiry into the potential impact of the European Union reform treaty, ahead of a lengthy parliamentary debate on its ratification.
Seven sub-committees are to take evidence and question witnesses on issues covered by the treaty, which
Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, is due to sign in December.
There is expected to be a fierce debate in both Houses of Parliament for up to three months in the new year, before a vote on ratification.
