PEOPLE

HUNTERS Residential has announced the appointment of property expert Gill Gray as a consultant.
She will assist head of property Wilson Hunter with business development and marketing.

• THOMPSONS Solicitors has announced the promotion of two of its lawyers to partner level.

Litigation solicitor Tom Marshall will now head the firm's
solicitor advocates and Laura Blane will run its asbestos team full time.

• McGRIGORS has announced a series of internal promotions across various departments.

In the litigation and dispute-resolution team, Tom Stocker and Joanne Gillies are promoted to partner and Jane Cornwell is promoted to director.

Elsewhere in the firm, senior associates Tessa Allen, Katie Douglas, Pamela Keys, and Wendy Nicolson are all promoted to director level from senior associate.

• THE corporate department of Morton Fraser has announced the appointment of Iain Young as a consultant. An expert in the aviation and sport and leisure sectors, he will be based in the firm's London and Edinburgh offices.

EVENTS

THE law of expert determination will be the subject of two talks being held by the Faculty of Advocates this week.

Run by the organisation's mediation and dispute resolution group, the events will be held in the Mackenzie Building in Edinburgh between 4:30pm and 5:45pm. Contact marianne.bell@advocates.org.uk for more information.

• HELPING firms steer clear of trouble while hosting the annual Christmas party will be the subject of a seminar being held by Ledingham Chalmers in Aberdeen on 19 November. The event will offer some advice on the responsibilities of employers under the law.

• SHEPHERD+ Wedderburn has announced it is to sponsor Cancer Research's annual art exhibition and sale in Edinburgh this month.
