Time for the MoD to square the circle on defence procurement

ON TUESDAY, Des Browne, the Defence Secretary, sent a long-awaited letter to BAE Systems and VT Group guaranteeing that the MoD will sign a firm contract to purchase the Royal Navy's two new super-aircraft carriers sometime in June, at a cost of £3.8 billion.
