ON TUESDAY, Des Browne, the Defence Secretary, sent a long-awaited letter to BAE Systems and VT Group guaranteeing that the MoD will sign a firm contract to purchase the Royal Navy's two new super-aircraft carriers sometime in June, at a cost of £3.8 billion.
This is good news for Scotland, which will get some 25 per cent of the business. Chunks of the carriers (which are being built in modules like a construction kit) will be manufactured at BAE Systems' Govan and Scotstoun yards, which employ 3,000 peop...

Wonder who will pay for those flying machines without which the carriers will just be floating sports fields.
