Grass is still green at Gretna

GRETNA coach Andy Smith insists a wave of calm is covering Raydale Park, despite the club being potentially five games from oblivion.

All has fallen quiet at the Clydesdale Bank Premier League side, who are on the brink of financial ruin.

The club's administrators have a month to find a buyer or fold Gretna altogether.

But Smith believes the lack of information on the club's future is a good sign and he is optimistic the stricken side will still exist until the end of May.

He said: "I haven't spoken to the administrators, but when they have something to tell us, they will make an announcement to ourselves and the players.

"The fact that it is quiet at the moment is a good thing. As far as I am concerned, the club has money to see it until the end of the season, the wages are being paid on time and everything is up to speed.

"The only thing that is missing now is a buyer for the club."

Glasgow-based football agent Paul Davies is understood to be the front-runner for a takeover bid and is also the fans' favourite.
