PEOPLE could be putting their lives at risk by believing that on-screen "Hollywood heart attacks" represent real life, a charity warned yesterday.
Dramatic scenes of people collapsing and clutching their chests in extreme pain are the norm on TV and in films, the British Heart Foundation said. But the symptoms of a heart attack can be far more subtle and easier to ignore.

#1, Charles:

This contains a reference, but since it's a brief quote from Professor Peter Weissberg, BHF Medical Director, it doesn't contain any details.

It's also dated "Updated 2008-05-06", so the Scotsman is a little out of date.

Nor did it help the GREAT ALEXANDER SOLZHENITZYN, WHO DIED 7:45PM 3rd April 2008, & now one of the Forty-Fivers. You'll now find the hypocritical Guardianistas praising him: who did they vote & promote? none other than mass murdering Tony Blair, a man who commenced a Stalinistic surveyance of British Society. ALEXANDER was also a very religious man and was derided for his promotion of Religious Values after the 'liberalisation' of Russia. (More like the 'Mafia-sation'). (Sorry, but no place on the Hootsman site to put DO CVIDANIA to this wonderful man.)

Another reference:

Dramatic-Hollywood-depictions-of-heart-attacks-risking-lives.html

This refers to a showing on ITV1 on Sunday, August10, called 'Watch Your Own Heart Attack' (?showing only south of the border?), which is possibly the reason for carrying the story now rather than earlier.

More to the point:

As a natural preventative measure to reduce blood pressure try HAWTHORN (available in tablets of 500mg, as well as liquid, dosage that works is supposedly 900 ?mg or ml? regularly per day but 500mg can have an impact also when regularly taken). This strengthens the arteries. For me, together with mild exercise, I found my youthful stamina suddenly returning without the 'Red Bull' effect. I don't know of any contra-indications or side-effects.

There's also the natural PLANT STANOL ESTER (found in small soya or yoghurt drinks as for example produced by 'Benecol', but quite expensive) for reducing 'bad' cholesterol. Again, over a period of time. The success of the latter has not been recognised yet by the NHS. There's an argument for keeping cholesterol in the diet as the body and brain need it for proper functioning, but for those with high cholesterol level it may aid in reducing this by blocking cholesterol intake in the gut.
