Chervenkov returns to take training

HEARTS have confirmed Angel Chervenkov has returned to oversee pre-season training as club owner Vladimir Romanov's search for a new head coach continues.
Fitness coach Tom Ritchie has been putting the players through fitness programmes but, with interim manager Stevie Frail on gardening leave, Chervenkov reappeared at Riccarton yesterday ready to commence ball-work training.

The Bulgarian worked as
part of the managerial triumvirate at Hearts last season, which included sport director Anatoly Korobochka and Frail, but was sacked in December following a woeful run of results that saw the side slip to eleventh.

A Hearts spokesperson said: "Angel is assisting with first team pre-season training."

It's thought Chervenkov isn't being considered for the position on a permanent basis, although there are suggestions he could be appointed reserve team coach.

Chervenkov had been working with Lithuanian club FK Silute, a club Romanov is said to have connections with, in a consultancy role following his departure in December.

Christian Nade joined Chervenkov at Riccarton yesterday after his mysterious absence for fitness tests at the academy last week. It's thought the Frenchman didn't have permission to have an extended summer break but he has now rejoined his team-mates.

Meanwhile, freed Manchester United midfielder Ritchie Jones has reportedly had a medical at Hearts. The 21-year-old, who captained England at Under-19 level, was released by the English champions at the end of last month.

Jones, who is attracting interest from Tranmere, made five first team appearances for United and has also had spells on loan at Colchester, Barnsley and Yeovil.

May I suggest a BOYCOTT of the first game against Motherwell unless a manger of some quailty is put in sole charge of the playing staff, no puppets allowed.

#1 A good point. I agree.

One small point though. Who decides whether any new manager (or manger) is of some quality, is in sole charge of the playing staff and is a puppet or not??

Is it you? Is it the Scotsman? maybe the Evening News? How about George Foulkes? maybe Gary Locke? victor ian from gorgie? victor ian from gorgle? Same rules apply? Lenny? Newcastle Jambo?

My opinion.... and feel free to ignore it, is that if Hearts dont have a new manager by the start of the season, or that new manager is Chervenkov or another of Romanovs background sidekicks then yes boycott the Motherwell match. If however another is appointed (heaven forbid the press might not be bang on with their reporting ) then I would urge the fans to get behind him in the first instance!

Please Vladimir ...... a proper manager...please!!!!!!!!

Excellent. Some good news at last. A manager with British experience, just as we were promised in January...

Could have been worse - it could have been Malofeev, although I shouldn't really tempt fate.

Being a Hibs fan I have always taken for granted that we will have a manager who will pick the team, deal with the press, bring in and move on players. Every other club seems to operate this way including Hearts up until Romanov took over.

Now you have Hearts fans almost begging for a "NORMAL" manager when it should be the very least you should expect. Surely you realise that this is not going to happen as long as Vlad is at Hearts, the only manager you will get now is a Rix type who has been out the game for a while and is desperate or another Lith puppet, no decent manager would risk his reputation working with Vlad.

I honestly cannot believe that Hearts fans still put up with Vlad he really is extracting the urine big time now.

You have to do something asap to get rid off or at least ensure he butts out of team matters before you are completely Donald Ducked.

#3# Would it really be a surprise if Jerkov is still in charge of the first team come the start of the season?

IMHO, Jerkov will be picking the team for Romanknob against the Well, and beyond, under the guise of "Reserve Team Coach"

Do you honestly think that we will see a "Quality" manager sitting in the dug-out next season, come on, and I agree with you if Romanknob does appoint a manager we should support him! But as we all know, 3 knock backs so far, no potential manager worth his salt will touch the job with a barge poll. So getting right behind whoever is on the receiving end of the fax machine is going to be difficult.

I think the Hearts supporters have seen enough PUPPET shows to last a life time!

This is a total disgrace. While most Hearts fans seem to agree that Frail is not the man for the job of full time manager he is by a mile a more appropriate choice to run pre season training than this invisible proven failure who the vast majority of Hearts fans wouldn't recognise if he walked up to them and smacked them in the teeth.

#11 I agree with you. Frail may have had his failings but he did manage to steady the boat after Chervenkov disappeared and we did have the best run of results since the Burley days under him. Vlad is taking the p with this now.

Would the new Hearts stadium plan lead to overcrowding problems?
Yes, emergency vehicles would struggle to get in.
Yes, but these could be fixed by banning cars on match days.
No, there’s still plenty of space left for more fans.
