DAVID Obua will not make his Hearts debut against Rangers on Saturday, Tynecastle manager Csaba Laszlo has confirmed.
The Uganda international became Laszlo's first signing when he was granted a work permit last week.

But the club are still working with the Foreign Office to complete paperwork, meaning the 24-year-old former Kaiser Chiefs midfielder will not be ready for Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at Ibrox.

"There is no rush for David," Laszlo told Hearts News.

"He has a 10-hour flight to get here and probably won't be here until Friday so won't be playing against Rangers.

"He has four years to show what he can do for Hearts so there is no point in putting pressure on him to play."

Teenage striker Gary Glen has also been ruled out with a calf injury.

Wrong timimg for his prospective debut anyway .
Next week against St Mirren is more appropriate.
Obua will then be able to have the full impact of the Saint's fans "witty" song - "You can stick your fu***** castle up your 4rse". (sung bt them near the end of last season at Tynie)
That's bound to either impress him..............Or baffle the 5HIT out of him.

Strangely enough - the following day I read an article in the NOTW (spit) written by a Weegie journalist (some wyfie called Khan) that said "Of all the things I dislike about Edinburgh - It's the castle that really annoys me".

Why do I refuse to got to Ibrox and Parkhead?
Eh..folk like I've mentioned above AND THEIR POLICE.

We'll have under a thousand fans at Ibrox on Saturday, Rangers have refused us more tickets.
What's the percentage of seats that have to be put aside for away fans? By my reckoning, Rangers and Celtic only have to get 300-500 tickets for Tynie based on how many we're getting at Ibrox

#5 just a hunch, but no matter what the news about this guy had been, you would have still thought the same.
We can sit here all day and score points etc, none of us know how good he is til he starts playing.

By the way BigKennyBluenose, I take offence at you saying I (as a Hearts supporter) want to be British or protestant. Please keep your offensive generalisations to yourself and your like-minded buddies.

True to say Rangers are feared all over Europe tho, I bet shopkeepers all over the continent did a dance when Rangers got knocked out. Only the glaziers were gutted!

One of the most cringeworthy things I have ever read on a message board.

I think rather than the things you mention, both clubs would settle for being ok at football, which neither is at the moment.

RE: BigKennyMac- you sad chav!

Its not big loss that the boy can't play ibrox, he would probably end up getting badly injured by a horror tackle that would go unpunished. Anyway hearts appear to have a reasonably settled team so best not to disrupt it for what will be a difficult trip with the home team and referee up to their usual tricks.

Let him make his debut at tynecastle where the referee will at least have a degree of nutrality.

I think it’s time for today’s BLANK THE PLANK. WeeKennyBluebrain is obviously not a well man. To come onto a thread of a team he doesn’t like and persist in telling the fans that he doesn’t like them is the sign of someone either desperate for attention or mentally ill. Either way it doesn’t do him any good to respond.

He is to be pitied clearly, but it’s for the best to ignore him, for everyone’s sake.

British Army sources are delighted to report that the Scottish contingent of its military presence in Afghanistan, most notably the war torn Helmand province, have all agreed to stay on for another six months despite daily attacks from Taliban forces....

To moderators: Could the OF fans maybe get a wee area for themselves to play in? Maybe just open the comments up on one innocuous story a day. It can be like a sandpit for them - UJs at one side, tricolour at the other - where they can all shout at each other about their frustration at having to mix with the rest of Scotland and associated historical events. If it works really well, when the SNP get in maybe we can chop off Glasgow and allow it to float between Ireland and Scotland which is where most of their minds seem to be anyhow. The hardcore Rangers mob would of course be welcome to set sail in a wee boat of their own for whichever seat the BNP eventually win in England.

Good interview with SDM on the RFC site, setting out the truth with regard to the Cuellar saga, and promising WS the entire sum for new signings, on top of the £9 million that RFC have already spent on new players this summer. Loovens and Bresciano seem to be the two definite targets, with Steven Davis also remaining on the radar.

The new youngster Aaron looks like the real deal too.

You have to love these posters who grasp names out of thin air and post it as "strong rumour". Shaun Maloney was mentioned earlier. A good footballer, but I think if RFC wanted him he would surely have been part of the Cuellar deal, as it would have required AV to hand over less money. It would also, being realistic, have allowed RFC to set as high a value as they wanted on Maloney, and made the Cuellar price look even higher.

I still back RFC over the Cuellar deal. We need three very good players more than we need one great one.

From the Evening Times...

A new Blockbuster movie,"The Great Escalpez" was premiered in Glasgow last night.A star studded affair attended by luminaries of the silver screen and Television alike. The cast of "River City, the fat Copper aff "Balamory" and The Krankies were on hand to add glamour to the occassion.

The movie, funded by Minty Moonbeams Productions, tells of the trails and tribulations of an up and coming soccer star imprisoned in Valencia who dreams of freedom, but when he finally shrugs off the shackles of his paltry contract, finds himself in a more perilous situation at Glasgow Rangers....A team in freefall,no managerial nous and in the bargain basement of the SPL.Can our hero beat the odds? Will he ever get a table at Mr Singhs?

Asked after the premiere, the Star of the movie,Senor Escalpez said.."It's my life writ large,I can only hope that I can emulate Steve McQueen and get on my bike and quit this joint as soon as humanly possible"

Just read the Murray "Interview" and cant help but think this guy should have been a politician..Asked a direct question..Was Cuellar forced out the door...?

Answer? "The facts of the matter are this. We sent out a clear, honest statement on the website the other night via the chief executive, Martin Bain. But people want to read that and put their own twist on it. There is not a lot we can do about that. We accept this is football, we will get on with it.

We told the truth. There is nothing untoward as far as Rangers are concerned. Carlos will confirm this as well - which he did - and that is the situation. When we signed Carlos for 3million euros, we never felt he would be worth 10million euros in a years time. This is a clean deal, there is no money going to other clubs. Financially it's a good deal for Rangers, football wise it's not. We have to accept it."

That all clear to me then...How 'bout you 'gers fans?

I'll tell you what I think.

Cuellar had a 10 million euro escape clause inserted into his RFC contract when he signed. When RFC got knocked out of Europe last week, and Carlos realised that he had nothing to look forward to except a long domestic Scottish season, with no CL football to allow him to strut his stuff where his national team coach might be watching, he decided to exercise his clause. He instructed his agent to notify all interested parties, and, because there were a few Premiership clubs interested, MON moved in quickly to secure his man.

For me, that is all perfectly sensible, feasible and consistent.

The Celtic-minded theories are more entertaining, however.

perhaps an apt title would have been -- raid on entebbe by romanov !i was a life jambo until romanov, ill never trust him to continue the hearts tradition. if a book was written about hearts since burley - you would find it in library under - farcical ! when i found out that our new messiah was ex uganda manager i nearly went out a bought a season ticket - NOT and now we have our new star signing. id like to remind people that even if this lad is the biz - he is not the team.Im just hoping another scottish team and the scotland squad can make my coming year decent by giving some pride to the scottish game

But your obviously getting a care worker to type your insane ramblings onto these boards.

I think the Celtic midfield is better, Fletcher is better for ManU and Thompson was a better player for rangers last year than the crab

BTO It's Villa in UEFA vs some Icelandic mob. Apologies to Swordsman for the confusion but I generally don't read old firm posters so they tend to get lumped together in my eyes (as in this sentence for example).

It must be grand to be a fan of Rioters FC right now.

#135 can I ask you who the Barry guy is?? If he is as good as your saying he better be playing for Rangers on Sat. Mind you your going to get cuffed anyway wether this Barry plays or not. You lot are on the way DOWN DOWN. Your nightmare is a day or so away.

there was a surprisingly honest admission from rioters chief SDM in an interview on scotland today this evening.

the interviewer asked him if he still believed rioters were a big club, he answered yes. he then went on to confirm that he would sell the club if he received the right offer from the right person.

the interviewer then asked the burning question, why if rangers are such a big club has nobody tabled a bid?

in a startling moment of candidness, SDM said "well what happened in manchester hasn't helped".

although he did end up with heaps of sand in his nostrils and ears after claiming that the participants of the battle of manchester were a "small minority".

so.... rioting knuckle draggers holding back their own club because a television screen had the temerity to fail.

sad, isn't it? no.

Bad news for Scotland if it's true.

Burley has made a big point of emphasising that Caldwell and McManus are the duo in possession of the central-defensive shirts in our National team, and he hoped that they could become a new "Miller and McLeish" pairing. That surely has to be jeopardised if Caldwell is not a starter at CP.

As for Loovens, I don't think that RFC will see it as a great loss. When they decided to invest £2.5 million on a central defender a couple of weeks ago, they could have used it to buy Loovens, but they preferred to spend it on Bougherra, which tells its own story.

BTW I've just seen the Adrian Mutu story. Maybe RFC would have made more money by planting some cocaine on Carlos and sacking him!

Good to see the Pundit back. I thought they must have changed his medication after the predictable Kaunus win.

4-1 to Hearts on Saturday. Tougher games to come though.

Should be interesting though, to see the Celtic posters put some spin on the Loovens signing.

They were on here after the recent Celtic V Cardiff match, at a time when he was being linked with a move to Rangers, telling us all what an unexceptional player he looked.

More recently, there was one on here telling us how far RFC had fallen, that we try to recruit from the Championship.

kaunas goalkeeper has joined hearts, kello. he's slovakian but he'll soon be widely known as a lithuanian, thanks to our less than knowledgeable football writers and ignoramus old firm / hobo element.
