Hearts under Ritchie's rule at training

HEARTS fitness coach Tam Ritchie oversaw the club's pre-season training yesterday in the absence of a qualified football coach.
Ritchie – a former Scottish 800 metres champion – was left in control of the first-team players, with the help of sports scientist Andy Murray, at the club's Riccarton training complex. There was no sign of sport director Anatoly Korobochka, who was thought to be at Sunday's European Championship final, while interim head coach Stevie Frail remains on gardening leave.
The squad returned to the training pitches yesterday after taking part in fitness tests last week. Ritchie will continue to put the players through training drills designed at improving their fitness, while majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov continues his protracted search for a new manager.
Meanwhile, Hearts captain Christophe Berra is eager to see a new manager put in place at Tynecastle to allow the club to move forward.
He said: "Hopefully we will get a manager in soon and he can bring players in and influence his style on the team."
