HEARTS insist they are not in talks with Uganda coach Jackson Mayanja about bringing him to Tynecastle as assistant to new manager Csaba Laszlo.
Laszlo was reportedly hoping to bring in Mayanja as his No2. However, a club statement yesterday morning refuted those suggestions.

A spokesperson said: "There have been no talks between officials at Hearts and Jackson Mayanja despite some media
reports to the contrary."

Meanwhile, Ugandan internationalist Hassan Wasswa won't be joining Hearts on their pre-season tour of Germany, according to his agent.

Speculation in the defender's homeland has suggested he is poised to be reunited with former national team coach Laszlo in the wake of countryman David Obua's move to Tynecastle.

Laszlo is preparing to welcome a host of trialists to the club's training base in Eltville but agent Mujib Kasule insists Wasswa is not one of them.

The 20 year-old is currently training with South African outfit Cape Town Ajax and is on the verge of landing a deal with the club.

Kasule said: "No-one from Hearts has come to me regarding Hassan and it's just speculation.

"It's not a surprise that Hassan's name has been mentioned because he was one of the young players that worked with Csaba in the national set-up. It has been widely speculated that he might move on to join Csaba but that's all it is."

"Reportedly", "media reports", huh? Following puts it in context but it's an easy way to fill those column inches - run a story one day then report the denial the next.

"Additionally, here in Germany last night, Csaba quashed suggestions that Uganda U21 coach Jackson Mayanja will be his assistant manager.

"I even heard today my former co-trainer Jackson Mayanja was in the paper saying I had called wanting him to come to Hearts," he said.

"This is not true. We have coaching staff here and we're working with that coaching staff. We don't want to change at the moment.

"I called this guy to ask why he'd said something that wasn't true and he said he never spoke with a newspaper."

Speaking of which, I hope the Scotsman has learned not to lift stories straight from Uganda's answer to the Sunday Sport, the RedPepper.
The RedPepper printed the "interview" with Laszlo's old assistant despite never having spoken to him and the Scotsman lifted it word for word.

As long as the club keeps responding to the story,s whether they are true or untrue is good for the supporters IMO.
I would much rather it was this way than the wall of silence eminating from Tynecastle in the past(not to distant past either).
The only thing i would add is that perhaps its time the EEN buried the hatchet with Hearts and then it might get some exclusive stories.
Making stuff up is probably not the way to go about it though,either way,i aint fussed.

#11 LF I absolutely agree. Maybe Banderson should take Vlad and Korobochka out for a fish supper to apologise and mend the bridges which he manages to re-burn on a frequent basis.

It doesn't take a lot of effort from Hearts to set the story straight and keep the fans in the loop and it's nice to see the club make the effort to clarify the situation. There's been far too much ambiguity at Hearts but that seems to be changing.

Let's face it, Hearts face their fair share of inaccurate press and they've let it go for too long IMO.

It's all very welcome!

it's been reported this morning that david obua will not qualify automatically for a work permit because his country are not in the top 70 in the world rankings. hearts can still appeal for a work permit. as far as i know the DWP have the final say about this but the SFA are involved somewhere along the line in recommending whether an appeal should be upheld. something like that.

so..... we wont be seeing obua play for hearts in the spl then.

we have been screwed over before by the GFA regarding work permits. the georgian player gogita gogua a couple of seasons ago.

watching with interest but with a real sense of inevitability.

Vlad has mouthed off far too much with the SFA. Why should they do us any favours now? There is a fair argument for some of the bias in the country towards the old firm, but some of Vlads comments about scottish mafias and corruption are only going to rebound and damage Hearts.
You're right, so long Obua, it won't be the shortest Hearts career anyone has had.

#15 ZK, there is no place in any serious, professional sporting structure for decisions being made on the basis of past disagreements, disputes, grudges or personal dislikes of individuals. sport is only really true sport when everything is decided on a dispassionate, even-handed basis.

you are right about vlad hacking off the powers that be, no dubts about it. it's their job to govern the game without allowing that to become a contributory factor in their decisions.

we both seems to know that isn't going to happen.

scottish football never has been and never will be a true sporting contest.

A good lawyer, and an appeal to the Scottish Exec, and possibly even taking it further to the Courts or European courts, on the grounds of possible discrimination against Hearts or more likely romanov himself, could be the way forward if the work permit is not issued. Would be very interesting to see a case built up against the GFA in possibly the European courts for Human Rights etc, might actually cause an investigation into corruption within the game here in Scotland.

BUT,what we have to do is trawl up the names of other players who have been in a similar boat but have had their permit/visa granted for whatever reason.

Vic where is it being reported about m8? Don't tell me the daily ranger or septic sun.

Ive looked on BBC, Talk107, Setanta, etc and nothing on any of them. The other thing is, why would there have been a report or how would someone know if its not been decided yet? is it just a journos opinion? speculation? or has someone inside the GFA actually said something? if so then that makes it an unfair ruling if they decide to not grant a work permit, it makes you wonder if behind closed doors a decision has already been made

#18 Now, if I remember correctly, a couple of seasons ago Jason Scotland was turned down for a Work Permit and Dundee United. But then granted one for St Johnstone.
I think that's a good indication of the absurdity of the system, but there's probably some precedent there. I think it was down to the player being of an appropraite standard to improve the club he was going to. Given Csaba knows Obua pretty well, and that LB is a weak position for us, I would have thought he'd be able to put together a decent case for him. But who knows what our friends at the top have in place...

Marius Niculae of Inverness is the most obvoius one. He was initially denied a work permit for not playing in the required percentage of internationals in the two years previous to him joining ICT. ICT got a petition together http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/mariusniculaeappeal/
and in July 2007 after a brief trial was granted a work permit.

You are right that this should be a completely impartial decision by the SFA, however we all know the truth about their vindictive grudge holding and glasgow bias.

It was reported here in the Scotsman 2 days ago. To save you having to search through it the reason is Ugandas FIFA ranking being below the top 70. They are 97th. The player playing 75% of a top 70 countries A internationals in the last 2 years is the criteria for automatic qualification.

I'm still disgusted by Chick Hu ns disgraceful use of license payers money in the 05/06 campaign. He used £50 for a "charity bet" that Rangers would overhaul Hearts lead and finish second. He should be sacked for misappropriation and for being a baldy biased t*sser!

Apart from well done Falkirk for digging their heels in over the allocation of old firm tickets........Question-

How many folk remember what happened when Rangers fans came to their towns/cities having NOT been vetted by RFC within their away ticket distribution network ? That's right - they caused mahem.
Let's not kid ourselves - If it was not for the OF carefully handing out away tickets to set fanclubs etc it would let all the nutters/ar5eholes turn up at the games.
The only time Rangers have not been careful in recent years has been at friendlies and testimonials away from Govan .............and look what happened ..... banned from playing in most regions of England.
Oh - nearly forgot the war in Manchester - another example of the knuckledragging.(We all knew it would happen)

Make no mistake - If the SPL clubs tell the OF where to stick their 5% levy and retain distribution rights to the OF away tickets (to sell to whoever turns up asking for them) all the eejits under the sun will get a hold of them - THEN you will be reminded of the 5cum that is the average OF fan (OK - Rangers are the worst offenders)
These supporters will embarrass their clubs and cause them to back down on the 5% "levy".
In fact - if most of the SPL clubs do the same as Falkirk the Weegies WILL do a U turn - AS THEY DARE NOT LET LOOSE WHAT WE ALL KNOW IS LYING JUST UNDER THE SURFACE.

"Let our fans be seen with their true colours showing" ??????
"What can we be thinking of - Sorry , forget this new charge" , business as usual.

THERE WILL BE A TOTAL U-TURN

Mind you , the Rangers Trust and fanclubs have officially boycotted away games for this coming season in protest at Lex Gold and co.

Ignore him. I think he actually gets some form of arousal out of getting people to talk back to him, even if it is terrible abuse. He has probably already been ejected form facebook,bebo, myspace etc. because nobody actually wants to talk to such a boring non entity with the mental age of a wee boy. Paedophiles probably start grooming him online until they realise he is a grown man with learning difficulties. He has realised that if he comes on a forum like this and does his best to offend the supporters of a team he will at least get some sort of response.
