HEARTS have allowed out-of-favour striker Calum Elliot to join Livingston on loan.
The 22-year-old, who had been a target for Inverness and MK Dons, will remain with the First Division club until January.

Elliot had been frozen out of Hearts' first-team squad since the arrival of new manager Csaba Laszlo and pleaded to be allowed to move on.

Livingston were pleased with the capture.

Chairman Angelo Massone told the club's official website, www.livingstonfc.co.uk: "We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Hearts, and very pleased that a player of Calum Elliot's quality is coming to the club.

"I am certain that he will prove a valuable addition to our pool of players."

Laszlo suggested Elliot needed to go out on loan but return to Tynecastle to fight for his place after gaining regular first-team football.

The Scotland Under-21 forward came through the youth ranks at Hearts before making his debut in September 2004.

He had a loan spell with Motherwell during the 2006-07 season and has been in and out of the Hearts side since returning to club.

Meanwhile, Hearts full-back Robbie Neilson has travelled to London to see a specialist about his Achilles problem.

The 28-year-old, who has missed the Jambos' opening three Clydesdale Bank Premier League games, is hoping to receive permission to resume training.

Neilson also sat out the closing weeks of the previous campaign due to a stomach muscle complaint.

He told the club's official website, www.heartsfc.co.uk: "It's not been much fun over the past few weeks. I got over the stomach problem but then the Achilles flared up."

Neilson has been a fixture in the Hearts side over the past five seasons and won a Scotland cap in 2006 against Ukraine.

"Hopefully, I'm over the worst of it and, with a bit of luck, after the trip to London I can start looking at getting back into full training in the not too distant future," he added.

Hopefully he can come back a better player and as 1# said, with a better attitude. He did show signs f his ability duriong the Rix era plus he does have time on his side being only 22. Good luck to the lad, as he is one of many to come out Riccarton.

5# Dont mention it.

We are in diar need of a new prolific striker, if this Tullberg turns out to be gash, Nade doesnt keep his fitness and even if he does I for one cant see him as a 90 minute player, even if they get injured we are left with kids, Mole who I dont rate, and Glenn who is a promising youngster but by no means the finished article, what the hell are we gonna do untill January?

great news!! if he doesnt knuckle down and do the goods for livi he can stay there! the guy has a severe attitude problem and is spouting in the paper about how hearts were mucking him about etc and expects sympathy. he has been living off his performance v celtic about two years ago and thought from that moment on that was him sorted. acts like a spoilt child and will be no loss at all as two goals in two years is a poor return for a striker!
his rants about "not getting home until 4" when he was with motherwell showed what a stupid wee laddy he is.

if he can come back and show the attitude mole has then good but i wont miss him at tynie. i didnt think mole was good enough as he didnt get a game for qots when he was on loan. but he has obviously taken that boot up the backside and learned from it and looks to be working hard, something elliott never did!

As a Hibby this is just insult to the injury of last nights woeful result...

Joking aside, his confidence copped an absolute pounding last year so a change of scene cannot elp but do him good, best of luck to him. Though of course he will no longer be the Tynie Dancer,

He maybe the Livi Limbo boy???

Who?,

Hopefully this move is a watershed moment for young clum.

The first division is quite competitive and he will find very few hiding places at that club or in that league. Hopefully he will find going to airdrie or Stirling Albion instead of ibrox or easter rd a humbling experience that will motivate him and improve his attitude.

If his attitude doesn't improve then he will be in a riordan-esq position- a guy who's reputation is in tatters and is viewed as a trouble maker who will never be able to fullfil the promise of youth.

The door is not closed on young clum but if he wants it to be open upon his return then its all now down to him.

Calum - Do yourself a favour and stop flailing you arms about and shrugging your shoulders when something (example - errant pass) doesn't go your way . It does not endear yourself to folk. We always look for triers and this apparant attitude problem does not do yourself justice as you appear to be a non trier - something I do not believe. Come back having proved yourself - and without the histrionics - you have time enough for one more chance at Tynie - (though you may no longer want it)

This is a very good move for Elliot and Hearts as well,I hope he learns his trade at Livingston and comes back a much better player. What we have to remember is that he is a young guy and given a chance might just do a job for Hearts when he returns. As for Nade he would be better on loan as well, a total waste of space. I will be surprised if he gets 5 goals this season.

Jim you`re right about Nade. How that lump of lard was ever allowed in the door bewiders me.Heavens above he couldn`t even turn up on time.Shows you the disipline Frail had .Which brings me to another of Frails follies.....Namely Elliot.I have no doubt in my mind he is one of nature`s lucky people. How he ever got to this level lets you know how the standard of football at youth level has fallen.I`m not an old codger banging on about the good old days but I`m afraid they were. This guy would not have got a game in the old second division. To compare the likes of that with Willie Bauld and co from the fifties era beggars belief. Also I remember a certain John Robertson coming in the team as a wee laddie and banging in the goals almost right away. The boy`s like a unemployed schoolteacher....has nae class.Livi will even find him out.

Do any of my fellow Hearts supporters know what is going on with their website. I had a pre-paid subscription to watch and listen to Hearts games for the last two years and now when I try to renew it seems to have all gone pear shaped. I have paid a total of £54.98 and they will not permit access to the site, saying that I have not renewed my subscription. I have filled in the form and they have my money. None of my passwords let me gain access and they are ignoring all my emails and the phone does not get answered.
I notice the previous website is up for sale and premiumTV website is ignoring all my pleas to get things sorted out.
Is anyone else having trouble or am I alone. Any advice?

#14 bang on! its no good saying he is only a young guy etc, yes he is young but as no 14 correctly points out so was john robertson, gary mackay, allan johnston, alan mclaren etc but its all about HOW WELL you perform and elliot is above his station. thinks he is a player without thinking he has to work at it. plenty players with potential do nothing...
disagree about nade as he has lots of ability and skill but was unfit and told to trim down......but probably not the first hearts man to be told that as im sure baggio and stampy got told to lay off the pies!!

think if he gets fit we have a very good player on our hands.

I was looking for a decent reply from Hearts fan's interested in the players linked with the team.

I don't want a rangers fan saying 'he will be your best player' Which is clearly not right. If that was the case would he not be in the Scotland Squad before the Hearts players that were called up??

You seem to think that all rangers players are better than ANY other players in any other team/ It clearly is not the case. If that was so you (Rangers) would be winning everything and way, way out infront of Celtic.

I'm hoping for a draw in the OF game at the weekend, as it's most benificial, but if i had to be pushed i'd go for a Celtic win. I just can't stand the Rangers Fans. I know there must be a few good guys in there, but the ones's i've met at Tynecastle are utter morons, with the brain power of a Half cooked mushroom!!

Why are you and your kind always on the Hearts/Hibs... non OF threads. Find a weegie paper that will allow you to spill your p!sh onto.

Just got a text from my brother who was at the match. In summary he said that

Airdrie were poor. Hearts were downright rubbish to the point of embarrassing. Played full 120 minutes with one lone striker raising serious questions on Csaba's tactical expertise.

(this was cleaned up a bit though as you can imagine).

Oh, and Stewart missed from 3 yards although it may have been closer.
38

kiwidoug,

22 In A Row 27/08/2008 22:38:28
Airdrie really are our nemesis and I am not greatly surprised by this result.

At a time when we have just let another striker go, it seems to me imperative that we find another Robbo from somewhere.

The fact that we are conceding very few goals suggests that the defence and midfield are doing OK but there is no strikepower. This dates back even to the Burley era where most of the goals were coming from midfield.

Would like to see Mehmet on the books.

Der Kaiser,

Target remains to be 3rd in the league come the end of the season.....but still, we shouldn't be out the diddy cup to Airdrie.

Evening Doug,
tough night for your boys. Losing is painful for sure, but the anguish of losing in the "wee cup" will disappear for sure. No, perhaps the biggest problem for Hearts now will be the pressure that the manager will come under and the fact that the players will be drained of confidence following this setback. So just how good a manager Laszlo is in respect of getting the team back up again, and the fans onside, will become evident very quickly now.

Anyway, it's only a game Doug. Chin up, tomorrow is another day!!

Well done Airdrie we could still be playing and we wouldnt have scored.Airdie beat us 0-1 in the 90mins anyway they scored a good goal just before half time when the ball hit the bar and bounced over the line.
Where are all the silly boys who were slagging the pen nibs, you should know better by now, what gos around as they say.
Now Vlad get us a leader at the back and a forward to lead the front line, all the rest looks not to bad but we wont win many games if we cant put the ball in the net.

Just back from the game. Heres my verdict. Just my opinion btw!
We played even worse than last season imo. Absolutely terrible. We had all the possesion yet created nothing noteworthy. Airdrie were even worse and never even gave us a save to make and in all honesty didnt trouble us at all. There keeper deserves the credit for the win with some excellent saves but hearts wasted the game. The only players that tried were kari(great game) and stewart. Chesney looked hungry and ripped them to pieces yet no end product. Nade and audry had clean chances on goal but choses to cross across the 6yard box instead. Obua had an absolute shocker. We looked like we played the whole game with no left mid. The only luck we had was down the right flank yet chose to play 98% of the game down the left. Nade looked fatter than ever but credit to his effort. Deserved to lose, not that airdrie even tried to score.

jambo dave. apologies for forgeting miko(was getting a bit worked up, dont know if you noticed!)
miko had an excellent game, airdrie didnt cope with him at all. his efforts were fruitless as there was no movement off the ball what so ever. The whole game was hoofball on our part. thought csaba had drummed the long ball game out us?? the team must have ignored him tonight. all we did in the first half was play the long ball. disgracefull imo.

Also, mole was totally of the pace and i dont remember him winning a single ball in the air. maybe a bit harsh on him as i dont think he had more than 2 balls played to his feet and thats being generous.
I hate being negative about my own team but they completely threw all csaba's work out the window and persisted with long balls from defence. the performance let down the fans, csaba but more importantly themselves

Predictor talk now(need a breather lol)

think hearts and hibs should be a good shout for 'bounce back wins'. IMO selik rangers will be a stoater of a game, hard fought, plenty of contraversy and i think the ref will let the game flow with little pull ups( i dont mean the ref will be performing pull ups without full arm extention lol). can forsee a few stonewall pens not given as the ref will be to scared to sway either way as most he will be under the spotlight. would put a bet on 60% of setanta's cameras being on the ref all game! a draw will be the lightly outcome but if anyside wins, it will only be by one goal(maybe a mcmanus hand of god hee hee)
What you guys think?

Smithy.... we were at different games. KARIPIDAS gave thre ball away throughout the game. We OVER passed the ball at times(hoofball would have been a better option). We had 24 shots on goal(one every 5 minutes) IF we had a goalcorer we would have won by 3 or 4. TOTAL incompetence for VR/Csaba to leave us so punchless.
IMO fans booed when KINGSTON went off because it was obvious that it should have been OBUA(totally faded out the game in 2nd half)

Poor performance/poor management & as u say AIRDRIE had a good goal not given.

For me only positive was KELLO had a decent game.

TOTT. I thought kari was one of the few players, miko stewart and chesney being the other ones, who really put in a shift. IMO kari shouldnt be playing in that position anyway. Zali seems to be maturing in to a great CB. many blamed him for the first STM goal but if he moved would have felled the striker and conceeded a pen. RE kingston booing- i made the comment from my POV as the cries of Kingston GTF you useless bast*rd were as loud as the booing where i was seated but agreed obua should have gone instead. still stand by my veiw that kingston looked totally uninterested.
