HEARTS midfielder Ruben Palazuelos has revealed he could quit the club in January if he continues to be overlooked by manager Csaba Laszlo.
The 25-year-old was a fixture at Tynecastle under Stevie Frail last season, making 34 first-team appearances after signing a four- year deal when moving from Greek side Aris Thessaloniki last summer.
However, the Spaniard has been used sparingly a
s a substitute on only four occasions since the start of the new campaign and is becoming increasingly frustrated at his lack of opportunities.
A 22-minute outing in Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Dundee United at Tannadice was the longest Palazuelos has enjoyed on the pitch since Laszlo's arrival at the club and took his outings to a total of just 38 minutes under the Hungarian.
Though he insists he is happy in Edinburgh, the former Racing Santander player has confessed he will consider his future at the club if he can't hold down a regular first-team place.
He said: "I don't know how long I can wait. I am happy here and I want to stay, but football is difficult and it's not possible for me to stay one year here and not play. It's too early to speak about this now.
I don't know what will happen in one week or two weeks. Maybe the situation will change and become better for me.
"In eight games I have played almost nothing, only little bits. I'm finding it hard but this is a question for the manager. It's important for me to play in the team."
Palazuelos's warning came on the day it was revealed that keeper Haraldur Bjornsson had left Hearts to return to his native Iceland. The 19-year-old has cut short his three-year stay in Scottish football in favour of furthering his education.
The under-21 international failed to make any impact on the first-team in Gorgie and has now headed home to Reykjavik to take up a degree in economics.
He said: "I have been here for three years but feel the time is right to go back home now and concentrate on my education."
