OUT-of-favour Hibs striker Clayton Donaldson will today end an unhappy stay at Easter Road by finalising his switch to Crewe Alexandra for an undisclosed six-figure fee.
The 24-year-old Englishman has agreed a three-year contract with the bottom-placed League One outfit after personal terms were thrashed out over the weekend.
Donaldson watched the Alex's 4-2 defeat away to Carlisle on Saturday and the reported £10
0,000 move will be officially completed when the SFA grants international clearance.
Signed on a three-year pre-contract deal by former Hibs manager John Collins last summer, Donaldson initially impressed by netting six goals, including a hat-trick against Kilmarnock last September.
But the quick ex-York marksman quickly became a bit-part player after Mixu Paatelainen's January arrival and failed to even start under the Finn, before being frozen out in pre-season.
Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland believes Donaldson will have a burning desire to prove Paatelainen wrong back south of the border.
He said: "Clayton has done well at a lower level and scored a lot of goals.
"He got a move to a big club on the back of that and not quite convinced people. "A change of manager there changed his fortunes and he didn't quite crack it. "We are hoping that he will come here, get going again and will want to show everyone what a good player he is."
