HIBS manager Mixu Paatelainen is running the rule over German goalkeeper Christian Pearson.
The shot-stopper played as a trialist for the reserves in their clash with Kilmarnock on Tuesday night but was unable to prevent Ian Flannigan finding the net as the Rugby Park side earned a 1-0 victory.
Despite having Andy McNeil, Yves Makalamb
ay – who is currently at the Olympics with Belgium, who advanced to the quarter-finals in Beijing yesterday – and David Grof as options between the sticks, Paatelainen is still looking to strengthen the goalkeeping position.
New Zealander Phil Imray played in goals as a trialist during the goalless pre-season clash with Raith but didn't do enough to merit a deal.
Paatelainen said: "Christian played against Kilmarnock the other night. He is from Germany and has experience of playing in the Bundesliga. He has showed up quite well so far and we will see what happens.
"He was actually with us on trial before and he has come back so we can have another look at him."
Meanwhile, right-back David Van Zanten has been passed fit for Saturday's clash with Falkirk despite requiring stitches to a head knock.
The Irishman sustained the injury in the 1-0 SPL loss to Kilmarnock on Saturday and was off the park receiving treatment when Jamie Hamill notched the only goal of the game.
However, Paatelainen expects the defender to be available for the visit of the Bairns.
He said: "David is fine, he had a few stitches in his head but he has trained with the boys this week."
However, former Hearts midfielder Neil McCann faces a race against time to be fit for the visitors as both sides go chasing their first points of the season.
A hamstring-strain sustained in training on Friday denied the Scotland cap the chance of making his debut in Saturday's narrow 1-0 loss to Rangers at the Falkirk Stadium.
John Hughes' side travel to Edinburgh this weekend looking to get their campaign up and running.
However, the Bairns might have to do it without the experienced former Rangers, Southampton and Scotland winger.
Falkirk assistant manager Brian Rice said: "It's touch and go with Neil at the minute regarding the game at the weekend.
"He just felt a wee niggle, that's why he didn't play against Rangers."
