HIBS are believed to have lined up a trial for former Chelsea midfielder Joe Keenan.
The 25-year-old has spent the last two years with Melbourne Victory in Australia after his chances of making a first-team breakthrough at Stamford Bridge were hampered by a broken leg and big-money foreign imports.

The left-sided player, who can play in midfield or at full-back, made two top-team appearances, earning his debut as a substitute for John Terry in a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa in February 2002.

Subsequent spells with Brentford, Westerlo in Belgium and Dutch outfit Willem II then led Keenan to move Down Under.

He was recently released by Melbourne, where he played with former Hibs midfielder Grant Brebner, and has been on trial with Newcastle Jets.

However, Jets manager Gary Van Egmond has indicated Keenan could be on his way to Hibs instead.

He said: "He looked OK. He has got a trial with Hibs, so he's going to go there and have a look at that as well, and we'll take it from there."

Hope Hibs sign this fellow, he showed a lot of talent whilst over here, so i am sure he would fit in at Easter Road very well, and do a very good job.

#3 Couldn't agree more Kenny, on spot.
Fed up with all these promising players.
Let's buy an established mid-fielder. The midfield is stabilised, more consistency in results, more money comes in.

If he is no good for the melbourne muppets then he,s no good for the famouse Edinburgh Hibernian ,we should be setting our sights alittle higher than a guy that cant get a game for Brentford i mean Brentford come on!!!!

I'm with Bob Jane on this one, having seen him a few times for the Victory down here, not only is he too lightweight he's just not very good either. Could be another AOB in the making. Great pace but very little else...

Pull the finger out Mixu, the only player I'd take from Melbourne Victory to ibs would be Vargas cos he can play anywhere across the back and is mister consistency for us...

While The Chief...

Looks to me like a player moving down down down with every move he makes and not the sort of guy any SPL team really needs.

I can never understand when people get all upset over a player when he is only on trial at a club. What exactly is wrong with having a look at a player? It was the same when the Junior player was on trial, he wasnt good enough so he didnt get a contract. Will be the same with this guy, Mixu will only sign him if he thinks he can do a job.

Lenny,
After seeing every one of Collins trialists brought in you'll have to forgive me for seeming a little worried about the possibility of Mixu doing the same. I also have first hand experience of watching this guy on a weekly basis and he's not going to cut it in the SPL.
I realise that might not be particularily fair of me but it is somewhat understandable given recent history. This will be the litmus test for Mixu IMO I just dont know who has reccomended this guy to Hibs in the first place...

Albert

If you have seen the player in action then thats totally different. I just believe in giving people a chance and if it costs Hibs nothing to have a look at a player then I see no problem.

I would accept the views of these Hibee supporters exiled via Botany Bay. They have the first hand knowledge and the Hibs midfield is already to lightweight with Rankin, Shiels, Zemmama, Stevenson and Chisholm all vertically and physically challenged. Morais is a little stronger but not much and he cannot challenge. Then there is the repeated analysis of Kerr and O'Brien.

Lets get some real bite into the midfield to win the ball and feed the creative players like Zemmama.

Give Keenan a try, what is wrong with looking at him, and it's not too hard who would have organised the trial, who else plays at Victory from Easter Road??, Grant Brebner!!, perhaps he helped with the trial.

Last season Keenan spent most of the season injured, his form when he first arrived in the pre season tournament was very good,

Nothing ventured nothing gained with this chap
