Published Date: 20 June 2008
MAHMOUD Ahmadinejad, Iran's president, yesterday accused the United States of plotting to kidnap and assassinate him during his visit to Iraq earlier this year.
He told a meeting of clerics in the city of Qom that Iran's "enemies" had planned to kill him when he went to Baghdad in March.

Ahmadinejad is such an endearing little egomaniac. He would make a good garden gnome, or a doorstop, or, even better, he'd make a good dog bone.

If the US wanted him dead, he would have been dead then.

"If the US wanted him dead, he would have been dead then".

....The same could have applied to Saddam Hussein but more than 1,000,000 dead Iraqis had to pay with their lives.

Now claim that Iraq was not invaded for their oil.

Iraqi Women Under Saddam's Regime -

Rape. The Iraqi Government uses rape and sexual assault of women to achieve the following goals: to extract information and forced confessions from detained family members; to intimidate Iraqi oppositionists by sending videotapes showing the rape of female family members; and to blackmail Iraqi men into future cooperation with the regime.

Torture. The Iraqi Government routinely tortures and kills female dissidents and the female relatives of Iraqi oppositionists and defectors. Victims include Safiyah Hassan, the mother of two Iraqi defectors, who was killed after publicly criticizing the Iraqi Government for killing her sons after their return to Iraq. Women in Saddam's jails are subjected to the following forms of torture: brutal beatings, systematic rape, electrical shocks, and branding.

Murder. In 1990, Saddam Hussein introduced Article 111 into the Iraqi Penal Code in a calculated effort to strengthen tribal support for his regime. This law exempts men who kill their female relatives in defense of their family's honor from prosecution and punishment. The UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women reported that more than 4,000 women have been victims of so-called "honor killings" since Article 111 went into effect.

U.S. Support for Iraqi Women
All people deserve to live in freedom, including the men and women of Iraq. On March 6, 2003, a group of free Iraqi women met with Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky, and Ambassador at Large for a Free Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad. The women shared their experiences under Saddam's reign of terror. As this group made clear, Iraqi women are eager to participate in the process of building a peaceful, democratic post-Saddam society. They want their society to once again be based on progressive Iraqi traditions and values. They believe in the

universal principles of human rights.
As in Afghanistan, the United States Government is prepared to help Iraqis with the priorities and projects that they identify as the best way to achieve their goals. We will continue to meet with Iraqi women and exchange ideas about their path forward. As Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky stated after her recent meeting with a group of free Iraqi women: "It is clear that the women of Iraq have a critical role to play in the future revival of their society. They bring skills and knowledge that will be vital to restoring Iraq to its rightful place in the region and in the world."

Hi neighbor. In response to your comment: "If the US wanted him dead, he would have been dead then." I would have agreed with you as recently as last year. However, now that the CIA has admitted to attempting to kill Castro (and failing) I'm willing to at least entertain the notion...

Muskrat,

Ahmadinejad is only a puppet with a big mouth. Assassinating him would likely achieve nothing because the ayatollahs, with their 7th century Islamic mindset, are pulling his strings. If they want Ahmadinejad to jump, he'll jump and if they want him gone, he's gone.

#8 Nancy "Stretch" Pelosi,
The US is by far more responsible for the deaths found in these mass graves, eventhough they will deny that of course. The more bodies they turn up and can blame on the Iraqis, the more support they hope to get. The US is there illegally, and needs to withdraw, so that all this bloodletting will finally stop. You are a stereo-typical redneck American who thinks that you own and run the world. Get a grip you dimwit, you're a nobody, why don't you go play in traffic with 57Nomad and Lynne, you're all of the same calibre, hooped in the head. You must feel so good that your president condones and insists on torturing SUSPECTS, as if torturing should be allowed on anybody, but especially suspects.

"The numbers keep rising with each mass grave we find that Saddam was responisble for".

..and the numbers keep rising for which George W. Bush is responsible.

Ask you average Iraqi if they preferred life then or now. The answer is then.

BTW are you one of the female guards who enjoyed humiliating Iraqi prisoners? If not I bet you wish you were.

I'take a few isolated cases to a woman leading me around on a dog lease rather than real torture like the people you support Al-Quaeda, Al Quaeda would chop off body parts and eventualy your head while you are alive.

#15 Lord Killwillie,
You sound like the real expert, and anybody can tell you anything and you'll believe it. It's a hell of a lot easier to lie about those bodies than it is to accurately pinpoint as to how long the bodies have been there, and as to who killed them. The Americans will stop at nothing to conquer any place they think will benefit them, and anybody stupid enough to believe otherwise is a fool like you.
You have no idea as to how much torture the Americans subject their prisoners to, and you don't know whether they are worse than the Iraqis or not. Torture is wrong, no matter how you go about it, try to get that through your thick head, and past your red neck. Idiots like you just keep coming out of the woodwork, and there seems to be no end to the likes of you. Get a life moron.

"Al Quaeda would chop off body parts and eventualy your head while you are alive".

For your information, "DEATH" always occurs after life exits.

What's the difference between kicking the door down of innocent Iraqis' homes, shooting the family members, raping the 14 year old females and killing them too?

Well???

That was Killwillies point, under Saddam you had rampant rape and murder to suppress speech. The real question is why do you and Linus have selective outrage? Your conspiracy theory over when those mass graves were put there just lost you any credibility you might of had.

#19 Ardanaiseig,
If you have something to say to me, don't be lazy and include it in a post to someone else. I for one don't have selective outrage, only to those of you who deserve it. It is not a conspiracy theory, the US up til now has lied about everything else, they will lie about that as well. They believe that the whole world needs to bow down to them, and if we don't, then they will come in and illegally invade us, kill our innocent people, and blame our people. Maybe that plays into your hand, but not with the rest of us. If you believe that those mass graves were put there solely by Saddam, then you are as a big of an idiot as the rest of the Bush supporters.

#21 Hemingway,
I'm by no means defending Saddam, the world and Iraq is far better off without him. The likes of Bush though, are no better, in fact worse. As bad as Saddam was, he did it at home, where Bush is doing it globally, and our government hasn't got the balls to stand up to him. As long as we keep doing what Bush wants, we're equally as guilty, and need to hang our hands in shame as to what we are doing to the innocent citisens of Iraq, and will soon be doing to Iran, if madman Bush has his way. If you support Bush and our government, then you too are an idiot, and I'll be done talking to you.
23

Gere,

In 1953 Iran had its first democractic election, a certain Dr. Mohamed Moseddeq was elected Prime Minister. He soon proved he was too independent minded to be controlled by the Americans and the CIA engineered a coup to remove him and install the Shah as a compliant American pupppet.

He operated one of the most brutal secret police and torture centres. Thousands of Iranians vanished and many were totrured into submission. The Iranian people did what all oppressed people did they turned to their religion and fell victim to the Mad Mullahs.

Thus the world was given another "made in America" problem, the present theocratic Iran.

The Americans are still at it, trying harder to complicate and compound their troublesome creation, Iran.

Make up your mind... Everyday you are anti Brown & Bush. Everyday you appease the real terrorists in the middle east, the suicide bombers that wake up each day that want to kill all non Muslims thinking that is their ticket to heaven. And now you are claiming you are a communist?

Accually Iguess you can be a communist terrorist.

You bash Bush and Brown everyday yet never any of the terrorist leaders... How did you like Blair when he was in office?
