NEW developments in egg-freezing techniques, hailed as revolutionary as the contraceptive pill, mean all women could choose when they have children.
Until now, routine freezing was only offered to women who were undergoing cancer treatment which could make them infertile.

But a breakthrough in freezing technology, where the risk in damaging the egg after thawing has been almost eliminated, paves the way to offer the treatment to all women.

Two fertility clinics in England are now planning to offer it to women who want to delay motherhood, usually because they are without a partner or because they are pursuing a career.

Professor Gedis Grudzinskas, medical director of the Bridge Fertility Centre, said: "The contraceptive pill gave women more choice about when they started their families. Egg freezing now gives women the chance to delay having children until the time that is right for them."

'Having-a-Baby', should NOT be treated as 'just' another commodity we wish to obtain in our life's.
Nature has its time 'slot' for 'Baby-making', apart from, illness or fertility problems, the freezing off eggs, to be used in this way is just wrong and makes the value of a 'Baby's-life' like something you BUY out of Tesco!
For my wife and I, this is one we both feel the same way, she works and has a good career ahead of her, but her Body clock, is telling her 'NOW' is not before time, for her to have had her Baby.
At 27 and trying for nearly 10years, this tells you the time zone, is best for 'Baby-making', its all 'just-natural' and for my wife is MORE important to achieve than any 'MONEY-MAKING-CAREER', but then she doesn't think 'a-Baby' is like a Plasma TV!.....OH..... 'GOT-THAT-ON-MY-SHOPPING-LIST'
'YES' Ive told her, lets have our Baby out off LOVE NOW, 'YOUR LOVE ON WANTING TO BE A MUMMY' and mine as wanting to be a Daddy!, its MORE important than ANY money you cant take to your 'GRAVE' with!
Talking money, if she does have that 'LONG-WANTED-FOR-BABY' I told my wife she can continue her career, have our Baby, because I WILL be the 'HOUSE-DADDY', NO-PROBLEM!!!!
Cant wait for the 'PRIVILEGE' of changing 'shi**y' nappies! and bottle feeding! (cant use my breasts) ;-)

No they won't.
Some women cannot have children and, no matter how far medical science progresses, they never will.
ALL is a very sweeping and inaccurate staement!

This is a nightmare. Do these woman having children late on in life not realise the trauma that they shall be inflicting ? There teenage sons and daughters will no doubt have to help them through there terminal illness ? And where does the mental family security to teenagers etc go when these parents have left this mortal coil ? Losing your parents at a young age is something you never get over. Unbeleivably selfish to have a child after 40.

God where will this lead to in the future. Women demanding that their children are born walking and talking because they are "too busy" to rear them themselves. I wonder what effect this freezing of eggs will have on long term development of these
lab produced earthlings. Completely un-natural.

What with ice-age births followed by amphetamine
addiction, in the form of "miracle drug" ritalin god only knows what the human race will be like in 100 years. Makes me shudder to think.

There's too much interfering with nature going on already. What if it goes wrong and the woman finds herself with a hyperactive child, or a child with a disability, but has no partner to share the care and the responsibility, or she is too old to cope? I think it's dangerous to mess around with things that aren't meant to be.

#8 your correct, plus the fact it puts very little value on the life of a baby thats the worst of it, in my books anyhow its just wrong.

Amparo de Glasgow,

us bottle-washers and baby-factories need a say !! 03/09/2007 16:11:51

I had two kids when I was 28 and 31 respectively ... I was lucky that me (female) boss was reasonably understanding.

However many women now want to keep their careers rather than going back home to change the nappies.

We should respect women's choices more!!!

11. Charles Linskaill, On the go on the mobile

My grandfather was over a century older than me, and at 67 fathered a child who went on to become the second most capped footballer in Scotland.

12. Digory, Really!?, well tell you something, I ain't doing that with my sperm! :-D
My Wife would 'GO-NUTS'..:-D after all the trying in 10years past!
And I cant see myself, collecting the Kids from school 'in-my-zimmer'.....:-)
But if it was a serious illness, I had and about to 'croak-it' at my 'modest-age' :-D , this would be a serious subject, that I would have to have with my wife.
I would say she would want my sperm frozen,
'for-our-baby'
I would respect her decision, but the pain of thinking how she would feel, with me Dead and giving birth to our child, is very difficult to comprehend, from all angle's.
Would it be fair on her?
Do you really want our Baby, when maybe you could 'fall-in-love' again and have theirs? (which I understand and supprort 100%)
You could do both 'honey'!
Would you want to?................?????????????
Do you see my point, 12. Digory?
Any Womens Views on this one ??

13. Suck McCrunchie, well 'DARE' I mention it?
(not my paper but left to be looked at)
THE SUN NEWS, had an article on a guy, who was the oldest Dad in the World! He was '92' photo of him holding Baby, 'proud-as-punch' and said!
"I want to do this until, I am at least 120years old"
Ok I know it was the 'Ragg-Paper', but it was 100% true!
