As a veteran China-goer - eight summers teaching teachers in different parts of China - I always point out the present day follies of western countries and their misguided ways in the days when the Chinese were somehow brainwashed into revering the British. No, I don't tell my hosts how they should run their schools; I simply try to understand how their system functions. I've learned as much about teaching from the Chinese as they have from me.

Notice that Joyce never once mentioned Tibet. But of course she's a critic of nationalism, so that explains the omission.

Notice that Pilrig never once mentioned Krajina, where we have shown that our pro-Nazi government has less than 1,000th as much concern for human tights as China in Tibet.

Good point Helene - the right to a good education is as important a human right as my right to compete with Rupert Murdoch in the news dissemination business. Mind you if the Chinese education system is only as good as ours they still have room for improvement
