Why should any knife have a point other than to stab somebody/thing?

Ever tried gutting a rabbit with a pointless knife? pointless!

Ban heavy sticks too as they can be nasty.

automatic 2 years in prison for driving a car in public as it is capable of being used to kill people. Not everyone that carries a knife is going to use it to stab someone so why do you tar everyone with the same brush a typical knee jerk reaction.

Actually its not such a stupid idea. Table knives also used to be pointed but following a ban by Louis XIV of France the designs were changed to round ended with a resulting reduction in stabbings at the dinner table. See http://www.hospitalityguild.com/History/history_of_the_knife.htm

If they want a point on it, then they will just sharpen it, this suggestion is just pointless.

Why don't you just ban the idiot's that running your government. Many people carry knives here. and yes they have pointy ends. We don't have a stabbing problem. Why? If someone threatens with a knife they will get shot. Oh! Did I mention, we have the right to carry firearms also. Why don't you take back your rights of self protection instead of worrying about pointed knives.
