AROUND 200 Tibetan exiles and monks tried to storm the Chinese embassy visa office in Nepal's capital Kathmandu yesterday, but were stopped by police wielding batons.
According to police reports, at least 130 protesters were arrested, while some demonstrators and police officers were hurt in the scuffle.

The protest, the latest by Tibetan monks and refugees in Kathmandu against the Chinese authorities' crackdown on recent demonstrations in Tibet, came as China prepared to receive the Olympic flame in Beijing today for the start of a domestic and international relay ahead of the Games in August.

In Athens yesterday, Greek officials handed over the Olympic flame to Chinese officials amid small protests by a pro-Tibetan group. The ceremony was held at the Panathenian Stadium, where the first modern Olympics were staged in 1896.

Police scuffled with protesters outside the stadium; authorities said at least 20 were detained.

Guga ll,
The photograph is real, too bad the contents have been changed. By the way, you know people?
Boy Wonder,
Tibet is China, boycott the Chinese Olympics, and you are indeed boycotting the Tibet Olympics.
We are one country, yes, that's right, one country. Look at any modern map. No wonder you go by the name "Wonder"! Selfrighteous garbage like you can keep your business where it belongs, we are doing fine here all by ourselves here, thank you.
Boycott your own crap country, it is guilty of many crimes, going back many years, and presently as well. Bloody hypocrites, the works of you.

#6 " Look at any modern map".

I assume you mean one printed by the gangster government of China?

Tibet is NOT China. It is a country in its own right. One which was invaded, annexed and repressed by these criminals and gangsters that masquerade as the government of China; and which is trying its best to complete the genocide of the Tibetan people, destroy their culture and their religion.

If I was you, I'd be asking my paymasters to increase my allowances. Tell them you need more money because of the stress of making up such lies to post on the Internet.

Interesting picture Boy Wonder, and quite revealing.
P45 I have found this picture on a couple of sites all with the same comments, and oddly enough non of them agree with you.

China is currently favourite for the baton-wielding tournament in the next Olympiad.

"Tibet is China, boycott the Chinese Olympics, and you are indeed boycotting the Tibet Olympics."

Tibet may be ruled by China but it is a COLONY. The Chinese only teach their children one side of Tibet's history. Its alphabet and religion is not Han Chinese.

Funny, the Japanese used to say Manchukuo was not part of China. So, you could have said "Manchukuo is Japan, fight Japan in the Second World War, and you are fighting Manchuria".

Don't believe everything your government and official textbooks tell you, postmark54.

Boy wonder that picture is an absolute fabrication. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

1) The uniform is about five years out of date.
2) It's the five year out of date SUMMER uniform, all Tibetan security forces (police and army) are in WINTER uniform in Tibet right now. (Obviously you guys know nothing of the temperatures of the area).
3) In your wildest dreams do you imaginge that if any security force was going to perpetrate what you suggest, they would be walking around the streets calmly holding the evidence? What kind of absolute fools do you think we are?
4) If this was part of the violence as you are saying - and given that the monks had been protesting for a few days before the violence broke out - do you really suppose that the locals in the background would be so calm?
Give me a break. More lies from the Duh Lie Llama.

You have an extremely biased view of China. Let me give you some facts...

1) Tibet surrendered entirely to Genghis Khan's Chinese dynasty in around 1300's. That is longer than your westerners have been in America, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Briefly, Tibet declared UDI before world war 2. Not a single country recognised the independence and China reasserted its power over Tibet after the revolution. Not a single country in the world today recognises Tibet as another country.

2) It was in fact the Chinese Mongol dynasty that created the Dalai Lama and named him. The word Dalai is Mongolian, meaning "ocean" or "universal". So the Dalai Lama today is not some priest from ancient mystical leadership as he would like you to believe.

3)The dalai lama is an absolute ruler, there was no democracy in Tibet when he was in charge. He kept serfs and slaves and his rule was absolute.

4) The life expectancy in Tibet before Chinese rule was 35.5 years. A few years after Chinese rule it rose to 67 years.

5) China spends millions each year to maintain Tibetan culture and religion. It maintains around 1,400 monastaries and temples. It gives the monks stipends to live off. So I fail to see how it can be accused of "destroying Tibet's religion". During bloody uprisings orchestrated by the "peaceloving monks" the authorities have destroyed a few hundred temples but the overwhelming majority remain.

6) Furthermore China spends millions more dollars feeding Tibetans who are unable to grow enough food for themselves because of the terrible climatic conditions of the region. If Tibet had to cut loose tomorrow it would immediately become a welfare sta
