GIVEN that the musical trope "Remember you're a Womble" has been lodged in my head lately, is it any wonder I'm confused about how to act my age? (Not that I can remember. I never Wombled in the first instance, being American, though it's worrying that, riding a sluice of fake fur, my mind's iPod segues straight into the tune from The Banana Splits, which did feature in my misspent youth.)
Anyway, as I was saying…

I keep catching myself thinking "I'm nearly 50", though that eventuality is fully 18 months away. Maybe my horror of "nine" years – no-one believes you're telling the truth – lies behind this mental leapfrogging. My abidin...

Once apon a time I would have said "WTF is a selvage!?"

But thanks to Google I know it is a curtain...
