FROM 1 October, the Scottish legal profession will have a new sheriff in town. On that date, the controversial Scottish Legal Complaints Commission will begin its work dealing with the grievances of unhappy clients across Scotland.

With all these SLCC stories, it sounds like the Law Society are labouring to get the point across the new Commission will actually do some good.Obviously not considering the Commission is being staffed by the same faces from the Law Society.

Yes it looks just like an added extension of the old Law Society and will be run by those jumping ship from the Ombudsman to their Lawyers, So no change to the way complaints will be looked at.

Be interesting to see if they will investigate historic cases who complain they were dealt with badly by the Law Society itself.

A maximum of One Lawyer and One Lawyer only should be allowed to sit on this so called independent complaints commission.

As one of only 8 lay persons given the opportunity to make ORAL as well as written evidence to the Legal profession and Legal aid bill I write with dismay at the selection of the new body the SLCC Scottish Legal Complaints Commission.

I along with many others have formed a group to seek redress against legal abuse we faced from the monopoly abuses of the legal system. We are shocked to find the LAY input of this new commission is NOT as we
expected but former members of the police ,social services or indirectly connected with the legal system as a whole.

We find this abhorrent as we expected "LAY" to mean precisely that outwith the previous system that used ,in the main, members of the LEGAL CLUB of
Scotland.

I attached the links to show the evidence we provided along with others and this initial email to instigate an initial complaint regarding the appointments process.
We are also aware that Which? and the Scottish Consumer Council have played a significant part in a SUPER COMPLAINT made to the OFT regarding how the Scottish legal system has been operating for far to long. Basically utterly abusing their illegal monopoly.We as victims know all to well the repercussions of how they operate.

It should be for those who gave evidence to have some involvement in how appointments are being made and that we have some assurance that "LAY" means precisely that totally outside Scotlands legal fraternity.Some of
the appointees previously on the council of the Law Societies complaints board.As well as ex police officers previously involved in the complaints
process that has proven to be an utter disgrace.
