Dennis Simpson (Letters, 8 May) is lucky he got his 25p age allowance. Mine was added to my pension and simultaneously deducted from my pension credit.

But just think of the civil servants it helped employ. Adding in the cost of their pensions it probasbly cost £5 or much more to have treasury people plan it and pensions people arrange it. And the bankers will be making their bit on the back of the changes. So be greatful that the 25p exercise kept so many people in jobs.
